Sword Ping Network Solutions are looking to appoint a Network Security Engineer to provide a key role supporting our clients across various sectors. The role will be based on a flexible working model however working on client sites periodically will also be a requirement of this role.

We are seeking someone with exceptional technical and troubleshooting skills covering a wide range of technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Cisco Products and be able to demonstrate a logical and methodical approach to troubleshooting.

Candidates must have excellent communication skills and be able to take ownership of problems to ensure the necessary steps are taken to diagnose and troubleshoot issues through to resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and manage next-generation firewalls (NGFW) with a focus on Palo Alto and Cisco ASA/Firepower platforms
  • Configure security policies to control network traffic and enforce access controls
  • Investigate and troubleshoot security incidents
  • Implement and maintain best practices for network securityStay up-to-date on the latest security threats and vulnerabilities
  • Participate in security audits and assessments
  • Collaborate with other IT professionals to ensure a holistic approach to security

Here are the key skills and experience relevant to this role:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in network and security/firewall management
  • Proven experience with Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW) and configuration of key features (e.g. Panorama, Prisma, PanOS, Security Policy, App-ID, User-ID)
  • Solid understanding of Cisco ASA/Firepower firewalls and configuration best practices
  • Strong knowledge of network security principles and concepts (e.g., firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs)
  • Familiarity with security protocols (e.g., IPSec, SSL/TLS)
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills

Certifications:

  • Preferred: Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) or equivalent
  • Preferred: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security or equivalent
