As a Security Engineer at Homebase, you will work in a Product Security/Application Security role to improve the security and privacy around Homebase customer data that enables thousands of small businesses to safely and reliably manage their operations. By reviewing upcoming releases, identifying security vulnerabilities, implementing systemic improvements, and working with all teams in the organization to remediate issues. You will play a prominet role in protecting the data of our customers and in securing the integrity of our systems. 

You will make an impact by

  • Balancing security with end-user efficiency and business needs
  • Helping other engineers design more secure systems via design input and code review.
  • Triaging incoming reports, and working with the rest of the engineering team to address vulnerabilities.
  • Being a champion for security across the entire business.

As a Homie, you are a bar raiser, which means you come with

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in application security or a related field.
  • Experience collaborating with application development teams.
  • Proficiency in common attack vectors and exploitation techniques.
  • Familiarity with threat modeling and architecture design review processes.
  • Proficiency in working with data management tools and platforms to ensure the integrity and security of data assets.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and enforce data governance practices.
  • Knowledge of development best practices for both mobile and web applications.
  • Development experience specifically with Ruby on Rails applications.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate security concerns and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
