Technical Project Manager (Security & Vulnerability Management)

The GTO Security and Vulnerability Management team is seeking an experienced Project Manager to our security patching and vulnerability management efforts for Vanguard’s global network infrastructure.  In this role, you will partner with the Network Platform Engineering team, GWX (Facilities), and ES&F to develop and execute security patching plans for some of our most critical infrastructure.  The ideal candidate will have expert level project management skills, as well as working knowledge of our network platform and infrastructure security best practices.  This candidate should thrive in a fast pace environment, and enjoy the challenges of improving Vanguard’s security posture while protecting our production environment for our crew.

This Role:

  • Manages technology projects / workstreams to execute security patching and vulnerability remediation of critical network infrastructure. Creates, socializes and manages project plans and provides expertise to major project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.

  • Provides insight on best practices and common obstacles based on prior experiences and knowledge of the platform and processes. Serves as a trusted advisor to ensure strategies are aligned with the overall company strategy and market conditions.

  • Communicates regularly to stakeholders, including leaders, team members, and senior managers, as well as other teams and leadership in other related platforms.

  • Builds and maintains effective relationships and proactively fosters communication between internal and external project stakeholders. Influences key decisions across stakeholder groups.

  • Proactively identifies, manages, and mitigates risks and any related issues on security patching and vulnerability projects. Communicates recommendations and solutions on key issues or projects to management and stakeholders to obtain their input and buy-in as appropriate.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


What it takes:

  • Minimum of five years related work experience. Two years of managing technical infrastructure projects required. Network infrastructure knowledge a plus

  • Knowledge of Network Infrastructure Platforms (Palo Alto/Juniper, Cisco, etc.)

  • Knowledge of ITIL Change Management / Incident Management Processes

What sets you apart:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

  • Prior experience with security patching or vulnerability remediation
