SUMMARY

The Cyber Systems Administrator supports our Department of Defense customer at the Joint Base MDL. This is a high profile role in the administration and security of IT networks for the development and support of unique Department of Defense systems. The CSA will play a key role in ensuring that our Department of Defense customers’ systems that have a direct impact on our country’s war-fighting and peace-keeping capabilities are performing at optimal levels. 

This position is located at our customer site location at Joint Base MDL. In this position, you will work our customer’s Compressed Work Schedule which consists of working four 9 hour days (M-Th) and an 8 hour day (F) for the first week of a cycle followed by four 9 hour days (M-Th) and being off on the second Friday for the second week of a cycle. This results in a 3 day weekend every other week!

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform all system administration functions on servers running Windows, Linux, and VMware ESX and Windows workstations.
  • Harden server and workstation operating systems and applications based on results of the latest security scans.
  • Perform security audits on servers and operating systems using scanning software such as Retina and ACAS.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating network security controls.
  • Perform required remediation on IAVAs.
  • Install and configure new workstations onto existing networks.
  • Set up new users including local admin accounts.
  • Install and configure new servers
  • Maintain and harden cyber posture of servers and network devices

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education, Certification, Clearance and Years of Experience:

  • Must have a BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Candidates who do not meet the degree requirement but have extensive Cybersecurity experience may be considered.
  • Must have Security+ CE or the ability to obtain one within 3-6 months.
  • Must have a Secret level or higher clearance or the ability to obtain one.  
  • At least 2 years of SA/Cybersecurity experience, including demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job responsibilities listed above.

Technical:

  • Must have Windows OS (desktop and server) understanding and formal administrative training and/or commensurate experience. 
  • Must have experience installing, hardening, patching, and troubleshooting Windows systems.
  • Must have a basic understanding of network environments and devices (firewalls, web proxies, routers, switches, wireless access points.
  • Strong knowledge in LAN, VLAN, WAN, security protocols.
  • Must have demonstrated experience applying DoD Information Security (IS) policies and standards.
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense Cybersecurity Directives is a plus.
  • Must have experience identifying and applying the Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) on Department of Defense systems.
  • Experience with Retina or ACAS scanning tools is a plus.
  • Experience supporting the RMF process is a plus.
  • Experience with the eMASS certification and accreditation database is a plus.

Occasional overtime work may be required.
