Compliance Officer (Fintech)

We are seeking a dedicated Compliance Officer who is mission-driven and passionate about regulatory compliance. The Compliance Officer will be responsible for developing and overseeing standards and processes to ensure effective compliance programs across the organization. This includes assessing and mitigating all regulatory compliance risks and providing direction and oversight to the compliance team.

• Develop and oversee compliance standards and processes to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Assess and mitigate compliance risks, including the risk of failing to meet regulatory obligations.
• Define the required level of knowledge across the organization on regulatory compliance requirements.
• Create an annual compliance work plan and oversee its implementation.
• Prepare and present clear and concise compliance reports to the Risk and Financial Oversight Committee.
• Develop policies and programs to encourage the reporting of suspected fraud and irregularities.
• Coordinate internal compliance review and monitoring activities.
• Investigate and act on compliance issues independently.
• Conduct regular policy reviews and provide training and guidance to staff on regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with Cyber Security Protocols, PCI DSS, PCI PIN, POPIA, and/or GDPR.
• Ensure accuracy of documents and reports filed with regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience in a compliance and risk management role, preferably in banking/finance.
• Post-secondary degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Relevant professional designations/certifications from recognized compliance bodies are highly desirable.
• Proficiency in using technology.
• Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Understanding of PCI DSS, PCI PIN, and POPI requirements.
