An exciting opportunity for a Cyber Security Operations Analyst to join our fun, collaborative, and hardworking team based at our head office in North Sydney!  
This position supports Ventia's cyber defence by evaluating, responding and managing security events and alerts by utilise data and logs, and cyber defence tools to analyse events that occur within the environment to mitigate threats. 
   
About the role  

• Proactively looking for vulnerabilities and making improvements or recommending changes to strengthen security. 

• Monitor Ventia networks for security breaches and investigate when one occurs. 

• Create procedures for employees to follow and improve the overall security system. 

• Support technical response to cyber security incidents and threats. 

• Support and configure cyber defence tools to help determine tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for intrusion detection activities. 

• Analyse identified malicious activity to determine weaknesses exploited, exploitation methods, effects on system and information. 

• Document and escalate incidents including event's history, status, and potential impact for further action. 

• Develop summary reports of network events and activity relevant to Ventia and cyber defence trend analysis and reporting. 

  
About you  

• Relevant network security background.  

• Proficiency in tools and tech such as SIEM and network security. 

• Malware analysis, threat intel and ability to conduct forensic analysis. 

• Ability to develop trusted relationships with internal and outsourced teams. 

• Ability to proactively identify and assess security risks. 

• Data-driven and attention to detail.
