Security Operations Analyst Intern - Summer 2022

Fanatics is searching for a Security Operations Analyst intern to join our Information Security team. Information Security team members are given a great deal of autonomy in the pursuit of keeping Fanatics secure and a successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, superior communication skills, and is expected to be comfortable and effective working independently and as part of a larger, highly-distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Monitor external information sources to determine potential threats to Fanatics.
• Monitor and analyze alerts, network traffic, and system logs to identify signals of potentially malicious activity. Creating tickets when signals indicate the need for an incident investigation.
• Contribute to SOC documentation (processes, procedures, and playbooks.)
• Assist with research projects that will help improve the hygiene and security of the IT ecosystem at Fanatics. Assist with creation of audit evidence to help meet our PCI and SOX compliance obligations.

Requirements

• High level of commitment, energy and creativity with the ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment with a STRONG desire to learn.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with executives, engineers, vendors and peers. Strong analytical skills, including structured problem solving and instinctive thinking.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals; OSI model, TCP/IP, HTTPS.
• Solid grasp of information security fundamentals including, but not strictly limited to; access controls, network intrusion prevention, incident response, and event correlation.
• Desire and ability to work as part of a team
• Pursing a college degree in an associated field (Information Security, Risk Management, Information Systems, Computer Science/Computer Engineering, or a related field) or equivalent experience.
