Brooks Internship Program:  Brooks Running hosts summer internships at our Seattle HQ offices to provide hands-on, meaningful work experience to further enhance your education and professional aptitude. Our interns gain exposure to real work, and projects while working side by side with Brooks employees and leadership. If chosen for this role, you will join a cohort of interns at Brooks and embark on a summer of learning, professional development, and exposure to the Brooks brand and culture.    Internship Details: 
Duration: 3 months Dates: June - August/September 2023 Location: Seattle, HQ Schedule: 40 hours / week This Opportunity: 
Our Information Security Team is a seeking a Cyber Security intern to work at our Seattle, HQ offices. This position will work closely with the Information Security team, which is responsible for protection Brooks from Cyber Criminals and adversaries. The team also works closely with other IT departments, including Infrastructure, Operations, Workplace Services, Digital Products, Enterprise Applications, Data & Analytics, and Business Systems.  Through this opportunity you will help our team reduce risk by investigating and responding to security events and improving our overall security posture.  You will gain exposure to the tactics and techniques used by cyber criminals to go from reconnaissance to initial access to impact as well as the ways we protect against each of those steps in a large corporate environment. You will research and provide suggestions on detection tuning, control validation, and platform hardening. 

Your Impact (Responsibilities):

  • Investigate suspicious emails 
  • Thoroughly investigate and respond to cyber events and incidents 
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of security solutions and practices that protect company services and assets 
  • Validate hardware and software inventory, comparing scans to asset databases to find outliers and suggesting process improvements to improve data accuracy 
  • Maintain a current awareness of information security issues and trends  

Project:

  • As a part of your experience as an intern at Brooks, you will have the opportunity to complete a project under the support and supervision of your manager. Details of your project will be finalized once you arrive at Brooks based on your interests, and the needs of the business. You will present your work and findings to leadership at Brooks at the end of your internship, to hone in on your research, recommendation, and presentation skills.  

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in information security or a related field 
  • Willing to commit to the intern position for three months onsite in Seattle, WA 
  • Willingness to learn and gain hands-on experience 
  • Able to commit to up to 40 hours a week to be physically present at HQ 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate technical subject matter to non-technical individuals. 
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products. 
  • Must be able to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of related professional IT experience 
  • Professional security certification such as Security+, CEH, SSCP, GSEC, or similar 
  • Practical knowledge of computer system administration  
  • Desire to pursue a career that requires life-long, continuous learning to stay relevant
