As ATB’s next Senior Manager, Technology & Cyber Risk, you will work in the the Second Line of Defence (2LOD) at ATB and will support the governance and independent oversight of technology & cyber risk. In assessing technology & cyber risk, this role will consider both internal and external factors that give rise to the risk, as well as the direct and indirect impacts of potential and actual cyber events. Fundamentally, this role works closely with leadership in, but is independent from, the business and technology functions in the First Line of Defence (1LOD).

This role reports within the Financial Crime team and will ensure that technology & cyber risk governance, oversight and enterprise reporting is comprehensive, principle-driven, data-driven, fit for purpose, concise and effective. The role will maintain and enhance ATB’s policy governance approach (policy, framework) and will flesh out targeted technology & cyber risk testing practices in the 2LOD as a means of independently assessing the technology/cyber risk management practices employed in the 1LOD. The objective is to efficiently deliver enterprise-level reporting that is fact-based, credible, relevant, insightful, timely, comprehensive and accurate. This will be supported by leading the evolution of enterprise technology & cyber risk-related KRIs/KPIs.

  • Monitor internal and external environments for top and emerging threats, and technology/cyber risks that may impact ATB Financial, its customers, partners, and the financial services industry.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the business and Information Services teams in analyzing root causes of risk events and development of mitigating action plans.
  • Monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and other control metrics produced by the business and ensure they provide an accurate reflection of the most significant operational risks to the organization. Propose updates and changes to KRIs/KPIs as appropriate.
  • Communicate risk management practices, methodologies and results of risk assessments in a supportive and collaborative manner and influence risk-based remediation to an acceptable level to the business.
  • Systematically assess the organization's information risks in order to establish and prioritize its security control requirements, primarily in terms of the need to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of financial information

Requirements

  • 10-15 years of risk management experience in IT and Information Security
  • 5+ years as a team leader or manager responsible for dealing with information risk, data security, privacy, cyber risk/security, incident management, business continuity, regulatory compliance, etc.
  • Relevant post-secondary education in Information Technology (or equivalent);
  • Cyber security related qualifications, such as: CISM, CRISC, CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), GAIC (Global Information Assurance Certification) Security Expert, relevant ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) designation, or other relevant.
  • Proven awareness of current industry practice in cyber risk identification, quantification/measurement, monitoring, reporting, incident management and enterprise oversight.
  • Thinks strategically and balances that with the organization’s current state, planned changes, anticipated changes and risk appetite
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate across the organization in multidisciplinary teams and to actively engage with various levels within the organization in a collaborative way to arrive at principled, data-driven decisions that align with strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and thrive in a rapidly evolving business and external environment while keeping focused on strategy and core values
  • Exemplary critical thinking and persuasive communication skills
  • Insatiably curious about risk and technology trends in financial services
  • Resourceful: able to find a way to get the right things done at the right time; able to successfully use impact and influencing skills meet the mandate of this role
  • Consistently viewed by others as a trusted advisor
