Software Engineer, Security - Reality Labs

Our security teams develop security solutions across all RL products and services. RL is building the future of computing, and our group helps guarantee all RL products are using best in class security practices to ensure the success of that future. This work is an integral part of everything that RL ships, both for already released hardware (i.e. Quest 2/3/Pro, Ray-Ban Smart Glasses) and unreleased AR/VR products.Software Engineer, Security - Reality Labs Responsibilities
  • Design and implement systems that enhance the security and privacy of Meta Reality Labs’ products and infrastructure.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to design and implement systems that span across hardware, firmware and software.
  • Drive effort to fix vulnerabilities and regressions across the organization through communication, technical solutions, and automation efficiency.
  • Debug complex, system-level, multi-component issues that typically span across multiple layers from kernel to application.
  • Use your knowledge of technical systems, such as key management systems, to respond to security/privacy incidents and other severe issues.
  • Mentor new engineers on the team, and conduct design and code reviews.
  • Recommend and help scale adoption of processes to enhance security of RL products and infrastructure.
  • Build and ship high quality work following best practices in order to achieve high reliability, thoughtful code reviews, appropriate testing, proper rollout, monitoring, and proactive changes that improve stability.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience designing and implementing security-enhancing features.
  • Extensive experience coding in C++, Java, Python or Rust.
  • Familiarity with mobile/device, application, or web security concepts.
  • Technical depth in one or more of the following areas: developing low-level operating system components (e.g. AOSP, iOS, Windows, Linux, QNX), microarchitecture exploit and mitigation implementations, hypervisors and trusted execution environments, code authentication from boot chain of trust through runtime verification, sandboxing processes, applied cryptography, vulnerability management, fuzzing.
  • Experience defining and driving technical work streams and providing technical leadership to the team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Security patents, technical security conference presentations or other indicators of industry grade security expertise.
  • Static and Dynamic Analysis experience.
  • Experience authoring and managing key management systems.
  • Familiarity with ARM based embedded systems.
  • Experience with Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality technologies.
