Our Team

We are Sanofi’s CHC Ethics and Business Integrity (EBI) team.

We are a team of strategic business stakeholders who establish the CHC Fit-for-Purpose EBI Program to address CHC business needs and ethics, compliance and privacy risks and who drive cultural transformation enabling fast ethical decision-making and accountability.

The Sanofi CHC's Data Privacy Team consists of a Global Data Privacy Officer, a network of Local Privacy Officers (‘LPO’) with regional, sub-regional or country oversight, and a Global Privacy Office with global oversight. While the main responsibility of a LPO is to support Sanofi CHC initiative and ensure the implementation of appropriate data protection measures and controls at local level, the Global Privacy Office responsibility is three-folded and includes:

  • Developing, maintaining and overseeing the overall functioning of the Sanofi CHC’s Privacy Management System (policies, guideline, standards, tools, procedures, self-help and training resources);

  • Serving as a shared support services team for the network of LPOs;

  • Providing day-to-day support to other Sanofi CHC functions in respect to their global initiatives.

Placed within the CHC Data Privacy Team, the Local Privacy Officer India and AMET (Africa, Middle East and Turkey) will be responsible for executing the Sanofi CHC’s Data Privacy Program and supporting day-to-day business operations, overseeing compliance with data protection laws and practices.

Key responsibilities:

In your capacity Local Privacy Officer for India, Middle East and Africa, you will be responsible for:

  • Working hands on to support and coach teams and colleagues in other functions to ensure privacy by design and/or to remediate privacy compliance gaps,

  • Supporting the local business to comply with relevant obligations concerning the processing of personal data, in accordance with the Sanofi CHC’s applicable privacy standards,

  • Supporting the successful execution of the Sanofi CHC’s privacy program in your region,

  • Increasing Data Privacy awareness and competence and conduct trainings,

  • Participate in the regular execution of Privacy Risk Assessment and Risk Management processes,

  • Monitoring and analysing changes in data protection laws and regulations, and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders,

  • Conducting or participating in internal audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with privacy policies and procedures,

  • Overseeing the handling of data subject requests and data breaches affecting data subjects and/or Sanofi CHC entities under your responsibility,

  • Facilitating the build-up and maintenance of a network of Privacy Champions in the region.

The role has no direct supervisory responsibilities but will coordinate with and counsel to the Global Privacy Team of Sanofi CHC as well as other functional and local privacy officers across the organization.

About you

Experience:

  • Experience in supporting privacy compliance for multinational companies, with similar geographical scope, either as a consultant or as part of permanent staff;

  • Previous experience in (or supporting) FMCG, HealthCare or AdTech companies is a plus;

  • Experience in information security principles and practices, information risk analysis, and risk management.

Technical skills:

  • Knowledge of privacy laws and practices in India;

  • A good understanding of globally recognized privacy principles and landmark regulations (such as the European Union’s GDPR);

  • Knowledge of privacy laws and practices in AMET is a plus;

  • Good knowledge of MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word,

  • Practical knowledge of OneTrust or other equivalent tools,

Education:

  • University degree, preferably in law, engineering, or IT. Open to other technical backgrounds that can show deep understanding and robust track record on data protection laws and regulations,

  • Privacy certification preferred (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPP/A and/or CIPM).

Soft skills:

  • Self-starter, well organized, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced collaborative work environment and manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure,

  • A high-level of intellectual, professional, and interpersonal agility and flexibility, combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills,

  • Communication, empathic and influencing skills; must be able to succinctly summarize and present complex concepts to business partners,

  • Able to work autonomously and cross-functionally within a matrixed team,

  • Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information to propose pragmatic solutions,

  • Sreative thinker who is ready and willing to lead with high ethical standards an organization through change,

  • Adaptability to embrace a dynamic and diverse working environment.

Languages:

  • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills in English,

  • Professional proficiency in other languages commonly spoken in India, Middle East and/or Africa is a plus.
