Under the direction of the Security Supervisor, the Security Officer Level 2 will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, security, and compliance of the NTT Data Center physical infrastructure, equipment, and personnel. The Security Officer Level 2 (L2) will work closely with the Data Center Operations Team (DCOPS) to ensure that security measures are in place and functioning properly. The Security Officer L2, is an intermediate position and is responsible for the administrative and operational duties associated with a site security team.

As a Security Officer L2, you will be responsible for implementing advanced security measures, monitoring security systems, and responding to security incidents with a higher level of complexity. Your expertise and experience will contribute to maintaining a secure environment and protecting the NTT Data Center’s personnel, assets, and information. This position is client-facing, clear and concise communication is required. Security Officer L2 is responsible for protection of personnel and company property, manages access control, monitors CCTV systems, and completes written reports. Team members are expected to collaborate with other departments to assist with matters pertaining to the efficient operation of the data center, including Shipping & Receiving. The position enforces and adheres to security procedures based on policies determined by the Security Management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Advanced Security Operations: Execute security operations with a higher level of responsibility, including conducting patrols, monitoring security systems, and responding to incidents in accordance with established protocols.

  • Access Control Management: Oversee and manage access control systems, including badge issuance, user permissions, and access levels. Regularly audit access logs, identify anomalies, and take appropriate actions to address any unauthorized access attempts.

  • Incident Response and Investigation: Lead or assist in the response to security incidents, conduct investigations, gather evidence, and prepare detailed incident reports to be reviewed by Security Supervisor. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies when necessary.

  • Security Technology Management: Monitor and maintain security technologies, including CCTV systems, and access control systems. Troubleshoot and report technical, maintenance, or safety issues, coordinate with vendors and/or Security Supervisor

  • Security Policies and Procedures: Enforce security policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Educate personnel on security protocols and provide training to enhance security awareness.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest security technologies, emerging threats, and insudtry trends. Proactively identify areas for improvement, propose innovative solutions, and implement effective security measures to strengthen NTT Data Center’s security posture.

  • Collaboration and Communication: Foster strong working relationships with other departments, stake holders and external partners. Communicate security-related information, risks, and recommendations to management and assist in decision-making process

  • Ensures that the client, its associates, and NTT Data Center personnel are provided with a safe and professional work environment.

  • Ensures that daily administrative documentation is kept concise and complete at all times.

  • Maintains all daily assigned equipment in functional and presentable condition.

  • Responds to all requests for assistance relayed by employees or clients; completes various company or client assignments as required.

  • Assists in performing and maintaining the Shipping and Receiving tasks.

  • Investigates and reports fires, evacuations, hazardous situations/other facility related events. Responsibilities include crowd control and assisting Fire Department/EMS or other officials during these processes.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Regular, predictable attendance is essential for satisfactory performance.

  • In addition to the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities listed above for L1, the below are required:

  • Advanced knowledge of the access control and monitoring systems’ standard methods, practices, tools and equipment for the security team, including advanced knowledge of Matrix and its interface with access control.

  • Advanced knowledge of closed circuit television video (CCTV) in order to export and email videos.

  • Advanced knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize non-standard programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to utilize security systems for reports and investigations.

  • In-depth knowledge of the Data Center Security Best Practices.

  • Effective written communication skills for incident reports, emails, and any correspondence with clients.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate in and promote a rigorous process-driven team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to correctly escalate issues up the chain of command.

  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures in order to make recommendations on updates.

  • Detailed understanding of all NTT GDC Americas, Inc. departments and responsibilities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a security position within a data center environment.

  • Minimum of 18 months experience in Security Officer Level 1position (Internal Candidates)

  • Completion of Security Officer Level 1 Training Track (Internal Candidates)

  • Strong knowledge of NTT Data Center security protocols, access control systems, surveillance technologies, and incident response procedures.

  • Proficient in using NTT Data Center security technologies and computer systems, including access control system, CCTV systems with digital recording and photo ID, incident management, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Understanding of relevant regulations and standards related to data center security, such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR.

  • Possession of certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Approximately equal amount of time sitting and walking.

  • Requires ability to bend, reach and stand for extended periods.

  • Able to hear, speak, and utilize a telephone and hand radio.

  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.

  • Requires ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Requires the ability to climb stairs and ladders

WORK CONDITIONS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Data Center environment, including outside perimeter and grounds.

  • Exposure to all types of weather conditions.

  • Exposure to unpleasant fumes and odors.

  • Exposure to hazardous work environments.

  • Must work on-site; no telecommuting. 

  • Must follow PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) guidelines as determined for the position.

  • Must wear NTT security uniform and proper footwear and present a professional customer-facing image. Unless part of a religious accommodation, no visible piercings other than a maximum of 2 stud ear piercings permitted; no unusual/non-traditional hair colors such as green or hot pink. No visible inappropriate tattoos as determined by Security Manager and Human Resources.

  • Must be comfortable working in a highly critical, highly confidential, fast paced environment with shifting priorities.

  • Must be able to respond to emergency situations at the data center.

  • Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays and be part of on-call protocol.

  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued Driver’s License.

  • CPR/First Aid Certification.

This position requires work to be done onsite at a data center facility and may require use of a personal mobile device. A monthly stipend will be provided to cover expenses incurred for using a personal device, if applicable.


NTT Global Data Centers Americas, Inc. offers competitive compensation based on experience, education, and location. Hourly base salary for this position is $ 22.30 - $ 27.90 and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance to local state and federal ‘Wage and Hour’ requirements.


All regular full-time employees are eligible for an annual bonus; payout is dependent upon individual and company performance.
