Job Description

Ares Management is currently seeking Staff Engineer, Cybersecurity Engineering to join the Cybersecurity team in our New York, Los Angeles, or Washington D.C. offices. The IT group consists of over 200 team members globally and is responsible for the firm’s technology landscape. The Cybersecurity team within IT oversees and manages Ares’ global information security governance, controls engineering, and operations.

The ideal candidate is passionate about information security, possesses strong software engineering/development experience, and thrives in an environment where they can help colleagues deliver more secure solutions in a fast process through applied engineering. This role requires hands-on experience with engineering innovative solutions, building process around solutions, and supporting the tools and processes that are implemented. This role will interact cross-functionally with multiple IT groups to properly design and deliver solutions that balance business enablement with security.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, build, and maintain code/build/run software security pipeline with guardrails that reduce technical risks, enable compliance with industry and regulatory standards, and help developers apply security best practices.

• Design, build, and maintain a desired state security configuration practice including documented standards, enforcement triggers, and automated remediation for workstations, servers, containers, and other software defined infrastructure.

• Investigate environment to understand business needs and technical constraints

• Recommend iterative improvements to environment, solutions, and processes

• Deliver projects on time and within budget

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject (e.g., Computer Science or Information Technology); or equivalent professional experience

Experience Required:  

• 10+ years of professional experience working directly with enterprise Cybersecurity teams; preferred experience working with teams in financial services sector.

• Professional experience creating automations (e.g., PowerShell scripts) to facilitate responsibilities.

• Professional experience with securing infrastructure as a service.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$180,000 - $210,000
