Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking an Information Assurance/Security Officer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position is remote.

 

Day to day Roles and Responsibilities:

 

The primary function of the Information Assurance/Security Officer is to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information through the design, implementation, and management of the enterprise security architecture. Ensures that all data encoded and saved as computer files is guarded against unauthorized use.

 

  • Leads experienced professionals in the fields of information assurance, computer security, information privacy and digital forensics in the development, preparation, implementation and maintenance of information assurance and computer security plans and standard operating procedures, certifications, and accreditation activities.
  • Leverages the NIST RMF assessments to maintain the system security plan.
  • Maintains the oversight and compliance of existing information systems through technical reviews and system auditing, in coordination with the CalSTRS Information Security Office.
  • Provides information systems security guidance awareness and training and participates in customer security inspections and reviews.
  • Manages, develops, prepares, implements, and maintains standard operating procedures SOPs and security test and evaluation plans. 
  • Collaborates with internal IT staff to ensure the continued compliance and secure operation of information systems.
  • Keeps abreast of industry trends and follows CISA guidance regarding known exploited vulnerabilities and patching.
  • Works closely with the Information Systems department to assure compliance with State and Federal laws and organizational policies and standards.
  • Performs vulnerability assessments on networks and systems and manages O/S patching.
  • Makes recommendations for improving security and can implement those recommendations.
  • Enforces best practices surrounding security incident response, in alignment with ITSM practices.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 8 years of experience or a Masters Degree and 6 years of experience or a High School Diploma and 12 years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing security for enterprise-class networks.
  • Proficiency in navigating global, multi-vendor hybrid network environments within cloud infrastructures.
  • Familiarity with compliance and regulatory program requirements, particularly in CISA regulated environments.
  • Ability to analyze network, event, and security logs, as well as IDS alert logs.
  • Proven track record in project management and organizational skills, including handling multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, coupled with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Exceptional written communication skills, characterized by clarity, precision, and accuracy.
  • Self-directed work ethic, showcasing initiative, creativity, maturity, professionalism, and confidence.
  • Outstanding teamwork capabilities, facilitating collaboration and cooperation within diverse teams.
  • Technical proficiency in the following areas:
    • Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop Operating Systems
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • Oracle Database
    • VMware Cloud
    • Amazon Web Services
    • Linux
    • Panorama/Pan-OS
    • Vulnerability scanning tools
    • Industry-standard security protocols (e.g., DISA RMF, CIS, NIST, etc.)

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
