Position Description 

 

At ESB, we operate one of the most advanced and critical technology landscapes in Ireland. We manage a vast array of enterprise IT and OT technologies. These technologies reside in our state-of-the art data centres, in cloud platforms, in our power generation plants, and in our critical operations centres. In addition to enterprise IT applications, databases, and platforms, we also operate critical SCADA systems, OT and Plant/Industrial Controls Systems and critical Telecom’s systems – all requiring the appropriate level of security to protect our business.

 

As a Cybersecurity Engineer, you will work closely with Cybersecurity Architects, other Cybersecurity personnel and projects to ensure solutions are implemented as architected. This will include reviews of low-level designs from the project, producing low level security designs and the collection of evidence to ensure solutions are secure as designed.

 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Provide Cybersecurity Engineering and other relevant cybersecurity expertise as required.
  • Design and document Low Level Security designs guided by the cybersecurity High Level Designs.
  • Work with Cybersecurity Architects as well as other project and cybersecurity personnel to ensure the controls called as called out in the Security Designs are properly implemented.
  • Gather and document evidence that the controls are in place and are configured correctly.
  • Formally document Cybersecurity Implementation Plan and Low Level Security Architecture Diagrams for solutions.
  • Ensure that all relevant Cybersecurity input and decisions for projects are formally documented and stored in the relevant locations.
  • Ensure the successful handover of all relevant cybersecurity engineering documentation to the relevant stakeholders including Cybersecurity Risk.
  • Work with ESB Cybersecurity teams to ensure proper transition of cybersecurity controls to BAU Cybersecurity.
  • Support the other CISO teams in identifying any Control gaps in the Cybersecurity tools/controls and assist in determining appropriate mitigating controls.
  • Provide feedback and updates where required to ESB Cybersecurity Standards.

 

 

Experience & Qualification 

 

Essential 

 

  • Minimum of 5+ years' relevant experience, including 2+ years' in an IT or cybersecurity lead role
  • Relevant 3rd level degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to influence technical discussions and decisions
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management processes
  • Knowledge of security controls covering domains including Identity, Networks, Endpoints, Cloud, Applications, Data and Security Monitoring
  • A high level of attention to detail with an ability to identify solutions in complex and demanding situations

 

Desirable

 

  • A keen interest in cybersecurity, keeping up to date with the latest trends and knowledge of cybersecurity industry standards and frameworks
  • Understanding of frameworks such as ISO 27001/2, SOC, NIST, or COBIT. 
  • Understanding of current regulatory and legal requirements – e.g. NIS Directive and GDPR 
  • Experience with cloud services, particularly Azure and Microsoft365
  • At least one cybersecurity-focused industry certification such as a CISSP, CISM, CISA, and GIAC certifications (or to attain an agreed certification during role)   

 

 

Location

 

The role is based in F27, ESB’s Head Office, Dublin 2 in line with ESB's Smart Working arrangements.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least one anchor day per week. All smart working arrangements are subject to manager approval and ongoing review, based on the operational requirements of the role, the team, and the individual.

 

 

Reporting To

 

This role will report to the Cybersecurity Design and Engineering Team Lead in ESB’s CISO organisation.

Salary

 

€55,000 - €65,500 depending on experience
