IT Operations and Security Engineer

The IT Operations and Security Engineer role is multi-faceted and includes aspects of DevOps, AWS Infrastructure and IT security management. You will own the development of DevOps infrastructure, including building and deploying Docker images and automating release processes using GitHub Actions or equivalent. Sound knowledge of AWS Elastic Beanstalk, ECS, RDS and related technologies is essential for this role. You will also manage IT security, which, in partnership with the Head of Engineering, will include enhancing and implementing IT security policies and responding to security audits.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions to automate software deployment processes.

• Manage Docker containers and deployment to Elastic Beanstalk.

• Migrate to using Elastic Container Service (ECS)

• Deploy and monitor applications on AWS Elastic Beanstalk and EC2 instances.

• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability of services

• Collaborate with development teams to improve deployment workflows and implement best practices for infrastructure as code

• Implement and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation

• Perform regular security audits and implement security practices to protect our systems and data.

• Continuously evaluate and implement new technologies and tools to improve efficiency and scalability of our infrastructure

• Provide support and guidance to development teams on DevOps practices and tools

• Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability

• Configure and maintain the Mobile Device Management tool for endpoint security

• Prepare and implement security corporate IT security policies and respond to security audits

Requirements

• Extensive experience working with GitHub and AWS services, including GitHub Actions, ECS, Elastic Beanstalk and RDS

• Proficiency in Docker containerization and image management

• Strong understanding of networking concepts and experience with configuring and managing VPCs, subnets and security groups in AWS

• Solid understanding of Linux systems administration and shell scripting Bonus Points for experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation

• Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
