Responsibilities

We are looking to add a Cyber Defense/SOC Analyst!. This qualified individual will identify, analyze, and report events within a cloud environment. This is a swing & night shift schedule position and 100% remote.

 

What you will do:

  •  Characterize and analyze network traffic to identify anomalous activity and potential threats.
  •  Coordinate with enterprise-wide cyber defense staff to validate network alerts.
  •  Ensure that cybersecurity-enabled products reduce identified risk to an acceptable level.
  •  Document and escalate incidents cause ongoing and immediate impact to the environment.
  •  Perform cyber defense trend analysis and reporting.
  •  Perform event correlation to gain situational awareness and determine the effectiveness attacks.
  •  Identify security gaps in architecture resulting in recommendations for the risk mitigation strategy.
  •  Plan and recommend modifications based on exercise results or system environment.
  •  Provide daily summary reports of network events and activity relevant to cyber defense practices.
  •  Analyze alerts from various sources within the enterprise and determine causes of such alerts.
  •  Provide timely detection, identification, and alerting of possible attacks/intrusions, anomalous activities, and misuse activities and distinguish these incidents and events from benign activities.
  •  Use cyber defense tools for monitoring and analysis to identify malicious activity.
  •  Analyze identified malicious activity to determine weaknesses, methods, and effects.
  •  Determine tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for intrusion sets.
  •  Examine network topologies to understand data flows through the network.
  •  Recommend computing environment vulnerability corrections.
  •  Identify and analyze anomalies in network traffic using metadata.
  •  Conduct research, analysis, and correlation of all source data sets (indications and warnings).
  •  Validate IDS alerts against network traffic using packet analysis tools.·

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
  • Experience with networking, TCP/IP protocols, and network topology
  • Experience with server operating systems, network directory services, and productivity software
  • Experience leading incident response activities (Prepare, Identify, Contain, Eradicate, Recover)
  • Understanding of operating system fundamentals, including Windows and Linux
  • Understanding of security controls for common platforms (Windows, Linux, & network equipment)
  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Yara, SNORT, EQL)
  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex ideas.
  • Excellent people management and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Amazon Web Services Cloud experience
  • U.S Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications: SANS-GIAC certification (e.g., GSEC, GCIH, GCED, GCFA, GCIA, GNFA)

Target Salary Range

$66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
