Cyberspace Operational Planner

Job Description~

  • Applies in depth knowledge of the Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP) and Adaptive Planning and Execution (APEX) to develop detailed plans and orders supporting Combatant Command cyberspace requirements, plans, and operations.
  • Uses Joint Service and Interagency planning and operational experience to conduct strategic, operational, and tactical level planning across the full range of military operations for integrated information and cyberspace operations. 
  • Develops and maintains deliberate and crisis action planning.
  • Collaborates with cyber operators to identify and levy requirements for intelligence collection and analysis, participates in target selection, validation, synchronization, and execution of complex cyber missions. 
  • Has sufficient technical knowledge to understand cyber capabilities, target vulnerabilities, and effects. 
  • Collaborates with cyber operators, analysts, enablers, and planners to gain access and technical intelligence to meet planning objectives. 
  • Participates in Combatant Command level boards, bureaus, centers, cells, and working groups supporting cyberspace operations.

Qualifications

  • US Citizen
  • TS//SCI with Counterintelligence or Full Scope Polygraph
  • 14 years cryptologic experience supporting cyberspace planning, operations, and/or cyber exercises at the Service, DoD, and/or Combatant Command levels
  • BA or BS degree in Information Technology or Computer Science

Experience

  • Experience with USCYBERCOM or one of the Service Cyber Components (FLTCYBERCOM, ARCYBER, AFCYBER, or MARFORCYBER)
  • Familiar with the Cyber Mission Force construct and command and control
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of USCYBERCOM, NSA, and Joint Force Headquarters - Cyber roles and responsibilities in regard to cyberspace operations.
  • Knowledge/familiarity with Joint and Navy planning and operations processes and doctrine for cyberspace operations (Joint Operations Planning Process (JOPP)/Military Decision Making Process (MDMP)/Adaptive Planning and Execution (APEX), deliberate, crisis action, and STO/SAP planning).
  • Experience working in J2 (Intelligence), J3 (Operations), and/or J7 (Exercises and Training) in any of the above organizations or Combatant Command Staff
  • Experience with Integrated Joint Special Technical Operations (IJSTO) planning, integration, and execution
  • Experience interacting with Combatant Commands in regards planning and/or operations 
  • Experience creating briefs and briefing senior leadership
