Expected Salary Range: $101,122.00 - $126,403.00 - $158,003.00 

        Our typical hiring range will be +/- 10% of the midpoint shown above

Job Summary:


Reporting to the Director, Cyber Security, the Product Owner for the Security Operations Team (SecOps) plays a leadership role in a specialized Incident Response and collaborative Agile product team, ensuring the mission and vision of the team are executed upon. They will support the team by planning, writing user stories, prioritizing the backlog, and helping remove roadblocks.

 

As the Product Owner for SecOps, you will strive to ensure team capabilities to administer and monitor relevant security tools and technologies, respond to incidents, evangelize, and influence the best possible security practices of other teams and stakeholders through direct engagement and collaboration.

 

Key Accountabilities:

  • Implements the mission and vision of the product team following Google Autonomic Security Operations practices, and Agile. 
  • Provides leadership and coaching to the SecOps Team, inspiring a shared vision, coaching / mentoring their development, performance assessment and change management.
  • Develops, maintains, and coordinates as necessary incident response processes and procedures using team-managed technologies and team capabilities. 
  • Facilitates and requires fixed recurring time for team members to develop and enhance workflow automation to enhance team productivity and capabilities.
  • Facilitates and time for team members to spend on rotation evangelizing and influencing other Product Teams on best security practices.
  • Help with the planning and architecture of relevant security tools as needed.
  • Participates, facilitates, or leads any applicable SecOps agile ceremonies and/or other meetings and gatherings, such as planning sessions, stand-ups, retrospectives, and sprint review meetings. 
  • Engages specialists across the organization, or contractors, in addition to product team members. Manages contracts that are needed for relevant consultants, vendors and/or outsourced services. 
  • Negotiates with leaders and other stakeholders to remove team impediments, issues, and blockers, including escalating to the right levels within the organization when they cannot be resolved at the team level.
  • Reports to stakeholders, including the executive sponsor, Directors or other product teams on the progress and status of product team deliverables. Proactively finds risks and opportunities and makes recommendations for resolution.
  • Meets regularly with capability managers to review individual performances and resolve issues;
  • Manages the budget and forecasting associated with the work of the product team.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience

  • A post-secondary degree in business administration, information technology management or a related discipline;
  • 5 - 7 years recent, related experience as well as experience in a leadership capacity;
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered;
  • Proven expertise with managing Security Operations; 
  • Proven record of successful operations and/or security team building and management.

 

Technical Requirements

  • Proven ability to build, lead and mentor teams to success;
  • Security and/or Operations Background;
  • Knowledge in agile methodologies and tools;
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills;
  • Demonstrated ability at a management level for business planning and road mapping, and a record of accomplishment of successful management experience in a collaborative, fast-paced business environment;
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong and trusting relationships with managers, employees and peers;
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills, written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving, analytical thinking/innovation, time management and multi-tasking skills.
