Job Description

The RHOS is responsible for the management of the North American Region and more widely aid the global team in delivering the mission of the group. RHOSs shall ensure an appropriate response to, and escalation of all security and safety incidents at facilities throughout the Region in line with organizational policies and procedures. 

 

The role requires considerable experience in relationship, project, and vendor management and will require a good technical understanding of security systems, as RHOSs will be required to support planned works across the lifespan of the various systems used by the security function, supported by a dedicated Physical Security Technology Team (PSTT).

 

RHOSs will be routinely required to develop, review, and apply a wide range of defined procedures and protocols, and implementing corrective measures where necessary, in order to ensure that all security staff have a clear and thorough knowledge of requirements and duties.  Where necessary, drawing on experience, exercising judgment and initiative to give effective guidance and direction to the managers, supervisors, and the wider team members under RHOS management.

 

Travel to sites in the Region, and potentially globally, may be required on occasion to support security and safety reviews, events or project works.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Implementation of security standards and procedures, which include Health and Safety, Electronic Security Systems, Guarding, Physical Countermeasures, Event Security, Close - Executive Protection, Travel Safety & Security, Kidnap Preparedness, and Workforce Protection.
  • Conducting Site Security Surveys (SSS) and related Risk Assessments (quantification of Assets and Threats) for Visa’s offices and develop continual policy compliance programs for all related sites.
  • Responsible for Health & Safety (H&S) compliance, to include daily observation, and Monthly - Quarterly - Annual H&S validations (Fire Extinguishers, Medical Supplies, AED, Annual Evacuation Exercise, Site Inspections and H&S Regional Meeting attendance).  Report all accidents, injuries, illnesses, etc. to Health & Safety at the earliest opportunity, and submit required forms - portals.
  • Manage contracted guard force and other third-party vendor’s daily activities to ensure proper security coverage for all shifts and buildings while maintaining proper customer service standards.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures for the facility, i.e. a Building Security Operations Manual (BSOM).
  • Vendor Management:
    • Ensures that all work is comprehensively defined in clear and concise Statement of Works (SoW) which include clearly defined requirements and expectations, Specifications, Services, Schedule, Phasing, etc.
    • Has current versions of vendor Contracts, and regularly performs tracking and reporting to ensure compliance.
    • Engages in recurring Business Reviews based on Metrics - KPIs.
    • Involves Sourcing in all vendor selection and on-boarding.
  • Manages sub-domains such as confidential document destruction, third party risk management, technical security countermeasures (anti eavesdropping), mail - package screening, mergers & acquisitions, expatriate security, and active assailant.
  • Be intimately familiar with and certified in regulations that apply directly to sites within the portfolio (PCI for Data Centers, or NFPA70 for example) and ensure compliance across affected sites.
  • Develop, track, maintain, and respond to Metrics and Key Performance Indicators associated with the role. Specifically, vendors (guarding in particular), incidents, unauthorized - denied access card use, alarm disposition (acknowledge and resolution times), alarm trending, and nuisance alarm reduction.
  • Conduct recurring meetings with key stakeholders having primary security responsibilities and involvement, such as people issues (Human Resources), procurement (Sourcing), budgets (Finance), space planning (Corporate Services), regulatory requirements (Audit & Compliance), and local site leadership.
  • Work in partnership with internal and external partners to coordinate activities and requirements with stakeholders having secondary security responsibilities and involvement, such as protection of information (Information and Cyber Security), liability (Legal and Privacy), i.e., work in partnership with internal partners to ensure GSS is responsive to the needs of the business and compliant with internal policies and procedures.
  • Advocate, recruit, and manage local Emergency Response Teams, Safety Ambassadors, and training per the H&S and GSS domain policies, and hold teaching certifications in First Aid, CPR - AED, and Stop the Bleed type programs.
  • Develop and deploy periodic (ideally monthly, depending on need and demand) security cultural messaging, awareness, and other bespoke security and safety training programs to all personnel to increase employee engagement and develop proactive security ownership in the region.  Promote the GSS training offerings available on Visa University and other sources (BeTravelWise). 
  • Directly engage with all site(s) personnel to enforce and ensure compliance with GSS standards and procedures.
  • Oversight of site security system operations, to include periodic audits - tests - spot checks of security system functionality, as well as ensuring the job performance - readiness of security staffing. 
  • Proactive identification of deficiencies within the electronic security systems, and coordinate with PSTT to swiftly resolve (AskFacilities ticket submittal) such issues.
  • Lead or assist with investigations in matters that relate to the security and safety of Visa property or personnel.
  • Demonstrate business and financial acumen to make strategic decisions, engage in negotiations, evaluate issues, propose solutions, and in general utilize Business Case and Return on Investment methodologies to justify decisions, recommendations, and investments.
  • Develop and adhere to financial aspects of the role. Specifically, the planning and tracking of budgets related to guarding (all OpEx) and materials (all CapEx) required to support GSS.
  • Maintain external relationships and liaise with jurisdictional (local and federal) EMS (law enforcement, fire, medical, etc.) in an effort to maintain positive relationships and information networks and strive to conduct onsite working sessions with external EMS on occasion.
  • Strong leadership skills that inspire team, and encourage - facilitate growth, education, certification, diversity, inclusion, equality, and empowerment.
  • Ensure resiliency of entire physical security function and operations.
  • Lead or participate in internal or external audits and compliance reviews.
  • Be prepared to receive calls on a 24-7 basis and respond to incidents or crises.
  • Partake in continuous training for GSS Team members.
  • Work as directed by Manager.

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA /JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

• 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
• Twelve (12) years of directly applicable work experience with a bachelor’s degree, or at least ten (10) years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters, JD, MD), or at least five (5) years of work experience with a PhD.
• Fifteen (15) or more years of work experience in a Corporate Security position, or equivalent law enforcement or military experience.
• Ten (10) or more years of multi-regional jurisdiction experience.
• Fifteen (15) or more years’ experience in applicable domain(s).
• Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in a position of responsible charge (managing direct reports).
• Ten (10) years’ experience in risk management, assessment methodologies.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 181,800.00 to 284,050.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
