Job Description

Your Career 

We are looking for a motivated DevOps/SRE Senior Manager to join our global Infosec SRE group in our HQ at Santa Clara. The group is responsible for the reliability and availability of the production environment hosting Infosec’s services and enabling the entire Infosec group using tools, infrastructure and automations. In this role you will be a part of a group that is responsible for planning, executing and reporting of the various infrastructure and security projects, as well as managing and executing high pressure production maintenance work and issues.

As the Senior Manager for the Infosec SRE Group at HQ, you will lead a team in a cutting-edge environment. Your role is crucial in steering the development and operation of our ability to secure our products’ development, which includes:

  • AWS GCP and Azure as the cloud providers
  • Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
  • Microservices architecture over Kubernetes
  • GitOps practices
  • Prometheus as the observability platform and more

As the Senior manager you will work closely with other leaders to coordinate priorities and efforts between requests from other teams, needs for the Product Security teams, FedRAMP strict infrastructure security requirements and general requests for all InfoSec teams.

Your Impact 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Engineers, nurturing a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration
  • You will take full end-to-end responsibility of the team that builds and defines automation processes for various services in Infosec
  • Oversee the implementation of monitoring and alerting systems, to maintain high system performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with Product teams and other cross-functional teams to integrate and refine processes, maximizing efficiency and alignment with business goals
  • Ownership of Infosec cloud infrastructure, managed by our Infrastructure as code
  • You will secure the production environments and add in new security tools and features both internal Palo Alto Networks and other market leading technologies
  • You will work closely with product security teams to design and enhance the architecture to improve shift left scalability, service reliability, cost, and performance
  • You will research cutting edge technologies and deploy them to our environment
  • For our FedRAMP environment as the senior manager in place, you will act as a dedicated leader to engage with stakeholders, manage expectations, and ensure alignment with FedRAMP project objectives

Qualifications

Your Experience 

  • Strong technical skills and proven industry experience (5+ years) with DevOps methodologies, tools and technologies including deep understanding of cloud security, best practices and industry trends and challenges
  • 4+ years of experience in leading engineering roles at large organizations or innovative startups
  • 6+ Proficient in managing cloud infrastructure, particularly with AWS and GCP, and skilled in infrastructure as code using Terraform/Terragrunt
  • High proficiency in scripting, Shell scripts & Python preferred 
  • High proficiency with Linux
  • Establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders and peer stakeholders to understand and meet their needs while operating existing systems at a high quality
  • High proficiency with virtualized and containerized environments (Kubernetes and Docker)
  • Ability to grasp new technologies quickly and prioritize and multitask on multiple responsibilities
  • Familiarity with Security-related infrastructure best practice and application security
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work and coordinate between multiple teams, with a proven track record of effective team leadership and collaboration
  • Navigating the complexities of the business and service reliability

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or equivalent training, education, and experience in information / cyber security, computer systems, IT, etc. or equivalent military experience required

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $175,600/yr to $284,000/yr. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
