About The Role:

The Physical Security Lead is responsible for the efficient and safe operation of the organization's physical security initiatives. This includes managing the development and implementation of access and perimeter control operational procedures, overseeing the travel security program, incident management, and security operation centers, and performing site walk-throughs for new offices, expansions, and M&A activity. Collaboration with Notion’s cybersecurity team is also crucial, leveraging threat intelligence to keep Notion and its employees safe.

What You'll Achieve:

  • Responsible for the development of an efficient and safe operation of the organization's physical security operations.
  • Manages the development and implementation of access and perimeter control operational procedures.
  • Oversee travel security program. Incident management, and security operation centers
  • Perform site walk-throughs for new offices, and office expansions, and related to any M&A activity.
  • Collaborate closely with Notion’s cybersecurity team, leveraging threat intelligence to keep Notion and it’s employees safe and informed.
  • Plans, develops and manages the physical security program under senior strategic direction.
  • Develops protection strategies for employees and expatriate staff in foreign countries and provides oversight for executive, dependent, event and travel security protocols. Develops executive protection strategies on as needed basis for special events (board meetings, leadership meetings, etc.)
  • Participate as a member of the CISO’s leadership team.
  • Manage a mixed team of Notion employees and contingent workers across global offices.

Skills You'll Need to Bring:

  • Experience managing physical systems
  • Experience supervising/leading teams and/or projects
  • Lead of Global Security & Safety (GSS)
  • Build and lead the organization's physical security and health & safety functions through a united team and program
  • Develop employees within the GSS team to become leaders in their current and future roles
  • Create the long-term vision and strategy for the GSS team and execute multi-year objectives and key results
  • Advise senior leadership (e.g. C-suite, SVPs, VPs) of risks to people, assets, and the enterprise
  • Expand the GSS program to areas of: personnel security, environmental health & safety, pandemic preparedness and response, travel security, event security, executive protection, investigations, intelligence, and risk management
  • Outline an enterprise-wide Duty of Care standard and partner with internal department heads to incorporate it globally
  • Develop external partnerships with law enforcement, regulators, and professional associations
  • Create a global program that blends risk management, regulatory compliance, best practices, and company culture throughout global workplace
  • Focus initiatives on Occupational Safety, Physical Security, Environmental Governance, Emergency/Incident Response, Crisis Management, and Business Continuity
  • Utilize risk assessments and strategic planning, program development, and relationship building, to address enterprise risk
  • Address compliance with US agencies (e.g. OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, Health Dept, City & County codes) and international equivalents in EMEA, APAC, the Americas
  • Foster relationships with Workplace Experience, Information Security, HR, Legal, Procurement, and others to educate on enterprise risk management best practices and provide framework to address high risks
  • Create and manage Notion’s Emergency Response Team program in global offices
  • Outline structure for the EOC (Emergency Operations Center) and GSOC (Global Security Operations Center). Ensure Centers are built and deliver to strategic initiatives

Notion is committed to providing highly competitive cash compensation, equity, and benefits. The compensation offered for this role will be based on multiple factors such as location, the role’s scope and complexity, and the candidate’s experience and expertise, and may vary from the range provided below. For roles based in San Francisco, the estimated base salary range for this role is $220,000 - $250,000 per year.
