Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Cyber Ops Risk Analyst / Data Engineer to join our Mission Assurance and Operations Research Analysis (MA/ORSA) team in support of the Joint Force Headquarters DoDIN. 

 

Location:  Fort Meade, Maryland.

 

Working as expert to assist JFHQ-DODIN understand, identify, assess, and managing risks effecting the secure operation and defensibility of cyberspace, inclusive of DoD intelligence systems, missions support systems, weapon systems, new technology, capabilities, networks, cyber physical system, control systems, cloud environments, data stores, etc.

 

Supports operations research analysis for intelligence, cyberspace operations, contingency operations, and operational-level planning, joint and multilateral training exercises, and strategic engagement policy. Helps analyze actual and predictable, interacting, operational activities of systems to obtain a quantitative, rational basis for decision-making through the application of logic and scientific or economic disciplines and techniques.

 

Helps other research analysts devise modeling and measuring techniques to investigate complex issues and solve problems. Assists in addressing requirements and the evaluation of data assessment strategies: sampling, statistical analysis, evaluation, flow processing, and management assessment strategies. Assists with developing cost-benefit analysis, data collection, data analysis, risk analysis, simulation model execution, economic analysis, and operational effectiveness studies.

 

Duties include:

  • Identify and recommend cyber terrain/activities which may impact the successful execution of DoD missions, make recommendations, and establish requirements for improvements
  • Analyze trend reports  
  • Perform data collection and analysis; conduct/produce studies on cyber terrain types, capabilities, data management, and other issues 
  • Provide analysis, risks, and options; and support decision making
  • Manage and support the weekly execution of a Cyber Operational Analysis Working Group
  • Support the completion of other similar work in the area of operations research and other specific mathematic areas as the need arises.
  • Lead and define operational risk assessments and analyses by DAO, Sector, and defined terrain segments;
  • Coordinate with DODIN AOs, sector commanders/directors, and other stakeholders to identify and understand the customer’s cyber relevant risk, strategies, tolerance, and other factors
  • Define and document analysis factors, risk reporting criteria, and risk categories
  • Incorporate risk assessments, options and issues, and results from wargaming/analyses in collaboration with DoD stakeholders
  • Capture collaboration results with stakeholders in an assessment report, updated monthly.
  • Propose mitigation and/or remediation strategies

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
  • Must be experienced with cloud-based data warehousing, specifically the use of the Big Data Platform (BDP). 
  • Must have experience writing data parsers for the BDP.

  • Must have experience with Kafka and Apachi NiFi. 

  • Must also have expertise in cloud native data storage services and data warehousing methods. 

  • Must be familiar with SQL and noSQL data storage methods.

  • Must have a full, complete, and in-depth understanding of all aspects of Defensive Cyberspace Operations
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders in a variety of formats
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Ability to work periodically on shift to assist the team
  • Active DOD TS/SCI Clearance

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Specialized Certifications-- One of DoD 8140 IAT Level II or higher

Target Salary Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
