A Software and DevOps security engineer is a professional responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure software systems and applications. Will work closely with other members of the software development team to ensure that security is integrated into all aspects of the software development lifecycle and integrating security into the DevOps pipeline,. Typical responsibilities include:

  1. Developing secure software solutions: Security software engineers design and develop secure software solutions that meet the organization's security requirements. They use best practices for secure coding and testing to ensure that the software is secure and free from vulnerabilities.
  2. Integrating security into the software development lifecycle: Security software engineers work with other members of the software development team to integrate security into all phases of the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
  • Integrate security into the DevOps pipeline: as DevOps security responsibilities, you will work closely with developers and operations teams to integrate security into the DevOps pipeline. This includes designing and implementing security testing and scanning tools, and automating security tests to be included in the continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) process.
  • Conduct security assessments: as DevOps security engineers conduct security assessments to identify potential vulnerabilities and security threats in applications and infrastructure. They use tools such as vulnerability scanners, penetration testing tools and threat modeling to identify and address security issues.
  • Manage security incidents: as DevOps and software security engineer, you will manage security incidents and respond to security breaches. work with the incident response team to contain and remediate the security incident and identify the root cause of the incident.
  • Stay up-to-date on security trends: as software and DevOps security engineer, you will stay up-to-date on the latest security trends, vulnerabilities, and best practices. They attend industry events, participate in training programs, and engage in other professional development activities to stay current on security issues.
  1. Conducting security assessments: Security software engineers conduct security assessments of software systems and applications to identify potential vulnerabilities and security threats. They use tools such as static and dynamic analysis tools, penetration testing tools, and vulnerability scanners to identify and address security issues.
  2. Providing guidance and support: as DevOps security and Security software engineer , you will provide guidance and support to other members of the software development team on security best practices and procedures. You may provide training on secure coding practices, security testing, and other security-related topics.
  3. Develop and implement security controls: as DevOps security responsibilities, you will design, implement and manage security controls and mechanisms to prevent security threats. You will use a variety of tools and techniques to ensure that applications and infrastructure are secure. This may include firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, encryption, and other security technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Industry certifications such as Security+, CISSP, or CEH.
  • Experience in software development, DevOps, cybersecurity, or related areas.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Nodejs, Go, .net core.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
  • Experience in secure coding practices and software testing methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
