Scope of work & the value you will add to our customers:

The Senior Networks & Security engineer part of the Private Cloud Platform team will take ownership of both the day-to-day operation and continued development of our networking and telephony infrastructure, in order to ensure they are resilient and secure, efficiently managed, and enable the strategic objectives of the bank and supporting 24/7 banking operations. The role will also take responsibility for information security governance, within Technology.


Role & Responsibilities:

  • On-call support and escalation point to support 24/7 banking operations as agreed with your line manager
  • Hands on management of networking and telephony services operationally, to ensure services perform in line with agreed service levels and in a way that is both resilient and efficient.
  • Day to day escalation point of the Networks and Security team
  • Continuously improve the quality and efficiency of the services provided by Networks and Security team, with a real focus on automation, integration and efficient delivery.
  • Working aligned to strategic roadmap for the continuous improvement of networking and telephony platforms, based on the priorities of the business.
  • Identify and build relationships with key consumer groups across Technology, to ensure networking and telephony services are positioned to enable their objectives, and the wider objectives of the bank.
  • Work with Platform Manager to develop the Networks and Security team to ensure it has the right skills, competencies and experience to succeed
  • Ensure the bank’s networking and telephony platforms and security operations are well governed, that operational procedures and standards are well documented and consistently followed, and records are maintained appropriately for a regulated environment.
  • Proactively work with architecture teams to ensure networking and telephony platforms are developed in line with the bank’s wider technology strategy.
  • Maintain an up-to-date view of financial services regulation relating to your areas of responsibility and ensure operations under your control remain compliant.
  • Support supplier relationships to ensure suppliers consistently achieve the expected levels of service.
  • Proactively identify and manage operational risks, ensure that they are recorded in the operational risk log and mitigating actions are agreed.

Requirements

Mandatory Skills:

  • Substantial experience of delivering critical IT infrastructure services, in a regulated business.
  • Knowledge and experience of scripting and automation e.g. Terraform, Ansible and Python
  • Experience with multivendor unified communications services an advantage recording, logging and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of network and telephony infrastructure and systems.
  • Experience of managing suppliers to ensure they consistently meet their commitments and deliver a high standard of service
  • An experienced network and security administrator.
  • Demonstrable experience of administration and support for Cisco routing and switching across LAN and WAN, Cisco voice services and Checkpoint and Juniper firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of VMWare technologies and Software Defined Networking environments
  • An understanding of information security best practice, and associated security principles and regulations.
  • Experience of working with offshore teams and third-party suppliers when performing support and maintenance activity and in resolving issues.
  • Experience of working in a cloud environment would be advantageous. (AWS Direct Connect and Azure Express Route).

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of working closely with Director/C-level stakeholders.

  • Hashicorp products (Terraform, Consul, Vault etc)
