About the role:

Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must-have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world-leading organizations. A Director possesses a keen eye for identifying gaps, problems and solutions within the market they serve. They use their knowledge to help clients make better decisions, solve complex issues and execute new practice­­s that propel clients’ businesses toward key objectives. A Director publishes these insights as pragmatic and/or provocative research. Additionally, they reinforce Gartner’s value every day by engaging clients via in-person and virtual meetings, sales support visits, Gartner conferences and industry events. 

As a Director Analyst you will meet with clients every day, via video conference and sometimes onsite at Gartner conferences. As an analyst, you will engage with clients to support their most challenging business initiatives, ultimately helping them to make the right decisions for their role and their business.  To support these conversations you will research markets, practices and trends and produce written research for Gartner clients to download and apply. You will collaborate with peers and become a published author on Gartner.com showcasing your own thought-leading research, growing your knowledge and your brand as a Gartner Analyst.

Expertise in:

  • Symmetric & Asymmetric Key Cryptography

  • Quantum Cryptography

  • Computer Networks and Software Development Skills

  • Security Architecture and Models

  • Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies

What you will do:

  • Conduct research and analysis in cryptography and encryption, supporting security and privacy related uses cases that utilize quantum safe computing, cryptographic key management, privacy enhancing computation and homomorphic encryption

  • Create high quality, clear, actionable, “must-have research” content based on research best practices and methodologies within cryptography and encryption

  • Develop new research and ideas through thought leadership and offer compelling, actionable approaches to client's needs and requests that accelerate the client's ability to act

  • Identify the root cause of a client’s barriers or overall needs and reframe thinking to drive strategy forward 

  • Demonstrate thought leadership in establishing research positions across a team of analysts

  • Provide clients and prospects with actionable advice aligned to their designated content area via virtual or face-to-face interactions 

  • Support Research and Sales: Provide sales support serving as voice of the market to help research teams create content and to drive engagement with clients to make progress against their critical priorities to grow their business

  • Create and deliver presentation materials for Gartner events, industry and professional association conferences, and client briefings 

  • Provide high quality and timely research content peer review

  • Predict how specific markets are developing, help clients in their selection process and assist vendors in overall positioning

  • Build credibility as a domain or industry expert to represent Gartner research, methodology and strategy 

  • Remain ahead of the curve on developments and issues within these specified areas, through peer collaboration from the data security, privacy, and identity and access management teams.

This means you will need to further develop your knowledge of your markets, vendors, trends, management practices. Gartner Analysts are team players who value expert insights, bold ideas and intellectual courage.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years in a research, or technology, related role

  • Strong written and verbal proficiency, analytical and presentation skills; ability to engage clients and respond effectively to questions

  • Ability to work independently, while also being intrinsically motivated to collaborate across teams and support the workflow of others, in a multicultural global team

  • Demonstrate executive presence; can immediately establish credibility with executives and additional stakeholders

  • Strong organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality deliverables

  • Demonstrate superior analytical skills, applying conceptual models, recognizing patterns while drawing and defending conclusions 

  • Demonstrate excellence in research and writing ability

  • Proficient in analyzing and synthesizing data; can effectively apply patterns and frameworks to client challenges 

  • Subject matter familiarity in cryptography and encryption with the ability to demonstrate understanding of the security, compliance, and business benefits and emerging technologies in those markets.

  • An understanding of data and cloud security concepts and markets, including key and certificate management for human and machine identities and cloud infrastructure.

  • Familiarity with security considerations for cloud, SaaS and on-premises environments and how they are impacted by quantum computing and privacy and data security requirements.

  • Experience participating in matrixed projects and providing guidance regarding key management tools and cryptographic standards with a focus on crypto-agility
