Job Description

Due to the nature of the client engagements, every employee needs to be able to achieve Security Clearance.

This means that you need to have the right to take up employment within the UK, do not have or require any visa to work, and have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years without any gap(s) totalling more than 6 months.

You should be able to easily commute to our Manchester office.  For some roles/projects, travel to the clients offices will be required and the frequency is often determined by the client.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Security Tester (Check Team Lead level) with an additional background in Security Research to join our dynamic cyber security team. 

You will have a deep understanding of cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors, along with hands-on experience in conducting in-depth security testing and research

 As a Lead Security Tester, you will play a crucial role in leading test activities from both a planning and active engagement perspective as well as conducting research to identify, analyse, and mitigate security risks to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our client's information assets.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  Security Assessments

  •  Perform penetration testing and vulnerability assessments on applications, systems, and networks
  •   Document and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders, along with recommended remediation measures
  •   Provide support and mentoring to junior testers ensuring that the quality of their test activities and outcomes meet our expected standards

   Research and Development:

  •   Stay proactive in researching emerging technologies and trends in cybersecurity
  •  Contribute to the development of innovative security solutions to enhance client organisation's security posture

   Vulnerability Research:

  •   Conduct in-depth analysis of software, hardware, and network vulnerabilities
  •    Collaborate with development teams to provide recommendations for mitigating vulnerabilities in client systems

  Threat Intelligence Analysis:

  •   Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack techniques

    Security Tool Development:

  •  Develop and maintain security tools to aid in the identification and mitigation of security risks

Qualifications

You need to have the following:

  •  Hold an active CHECK Team Leader certification
  •   Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Security, or a related field
  •  Strong understanding of common attack vectors, exploits, and malware
  •   Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Ruby, or NodeJS
  •  Proven experience in security research, vulnerability analysis, and threat intelligence
  •  Hands-on experience with testing tools and frameworks
  •   Knowledge of network protocols, systems, and applications security
  •   Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  •    Certifications such as OSCP, CCSAS and/or CCSAM are a plus

Whilst having experience in a consultancy is beneficial, demonstrable experience in working with clients/external partners in other settings will always be considered.
