Planet Technologies, the Nation’s leading Microsoft services provider to the public sector, is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as a Compliance Consultant. In this role, you will be supporting impactful projects that benefit our country.
Planet Technologies is seeking a Compliance Consultant for our Planet East division to assist in delivering our suite of compliance offerings to our customers. The Compliance Consultant will work with customers to assist those customers with their compliance needs. This role will serve as a trusted advisor to Planet customers as they seek to balance their operational requirements with their need(s) to demonstrate compliance with one or more formal risk management frameworks. The Consultant will author (for new systems/environments) and/or augment policies, plans, processes, procedures, plans of action and milestones and other artifacts. The Consultant will interview customer’s personnel, present findings, conduct security assessments of systems/environments, and provide educational material about compliance to customers. This Consultant role will also provide support and perform other duties as assigned and/or required. 

What you have already achieved

  • Practical understanding of Cyber Security Compliance, risk management and information security principles including access control, network security, information security architecture, information security operations, and leading practices and associated tools in cloud environments (e.g., Azure, Microsoft 365, Amazon Web Services) and traditional on-premises environments 
  • 5+ years of experience within Data Security & Compliance strongly preferred.  
  • 2+ years of Security Compliance Audit Experience strongly preferred with a focus on NIST 800-53 Security and Privacy Controls for Information Systems and Organizations, Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP), NIST 800-171 Protecting Controlled Unclassified Information in Nonfederal Systems and Organizations, or Cybersecurity Maturity Model (CMMC) v2 frameworks. 
  • Experience with collaboration for both internal and external partners to achieve and maintain long term and meaningful relationships with customers by providing exceptional service in all areas.  

What you will do

  • Represent Planet and Compliance Practice during pre-sales discussions through active listening and, as appropriate, questions and answer sessions to elicit generalized and/or specific requirements/expectations and convey notes of those meetings to the Compliance team leadership and sales team. 
  • Represent Planet and Compliance Practice during customer interviews and requirements elicitation discussions through active listening and, as appropriate, question and answer sessions to elicit generalized and/or specific requirements/expectations. 
  • Present Planet and Compliance Practice artifacts in a briefing style format to audiences of many sizes (e.g., room of people to deskside briefing). 
  • Assist Program Managers (PM) by helping build project schedules involving compliance offerings, monitoring execution of those schedules, and bringing resources to bear to avoid and/or resolve breaking of schedules. Keeping PMs and Compliance Practice leadership informed of progress and raising issues/concerns in sufficient time for leadership to help resolve the issue/concern. 
  • Apply knowledge of various risk management frameworks shown below to customer specific environments and/or systems. 
  • Can be a liaison between the technology and customer requirements and communicate accordingly to achieve desired outcomes.
