The Information Security team is tasked with maturing Sony Music Publishing’s overall security posture, to ensure personal information and critical systems are safeguarded throughout the organization. The team works closely with internal and external partners to implement the security program.

The Cybersecurity Intern will participate in risk management processes, review alerts, assist in refining the security program, work on vulnerability disclosure processes, develop training and awareness materials, analyze threat intel, and contribute to other projects.

What You’ll Do:

  • Identify attack vectors, assess vulnerabilities, and participate in risk assessments.
  • Monitor tools and respond to alerts.
  • Participate in incident investigations.
  • Ensure tool compliance.
  • Assess threat intelligence and create intelligence reports.
  • Review, create, or update policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Create reports, presentations, and other training materials.
  • Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and systems.
  • Evaluate, research, and complete assigned projects.
  • Day-to-day activities related to cybersecurity.
  • 7.5-hour business workday.  Up to 30 hours/week.

Who You Are:

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university.
  • 0-1 year of hands-on experience working with technology (hardware or software)
  • Passionate about the music and entertainment business.
  • Solid understanding of Defense in Depth practices.
  • Understanding of OS hardening, malware detection, physical security, in-transit and at-rest encryption.
  • Experience with Python, PHP or PowerShell.
  • Basic knowledge of common network technologies (DNS, DHCP, IP addressing)
  • Demonstrated interest in risk management.
  • Interest in vulnerability assessment, privacy, data protection, cyber laws.
  • Open to learning with support and training.
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
  • Personable, customer service oriented.
  • You are hungry to learn and grow. You are curious, ask questions and get excited about new projects.
  • A highly organized person that pays close attention to the details.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

The anticipated annual base salary/hourly rate for this position is $17 per hour. This does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
