Job Description

The task of the project is the continuous development of the test and development environment in the field of Unix / Linux including all associated infrastructure parts.

Operations:

  1. System Engineering: Operation of the systems through installation, configuration, tuning, monitoring, automation and implementation of regular updates (patching to release changes).
  2. Performance analysis: Install, maintain, and evaluate measurement agents to find performance issues and forecast future resources needed.
  3. Developer Support: Installation, configuration, and support of additional development resources (programming environment and tools) as well as new systems on demand.
  4. Software packaging to automate the refueling of newly deployed systems: Support of storage systems (NAS/SAN, NetApp), network (switches & firewalls), hypervisor (virtualization layer), reverse proxy and backup infrastructures (e.g., backup PC).

Do you have many years of practical experience and meet the following criteria?

  • Expert knowledge of common hypervisors (e.g. VMware vSphere, Oracle Linux KVM) for hosting Linux systems.
  • Automation (e.g. patch management) and declarative configuration management systems.
  • Independent and customer-oriented work and are willing to quickly familiarize yourself with other topics.
  • Linux knowledge at the level of LPIC-2/LPIC-3
  • Programming skills (shell script, Python...)
  • Security Skills / System Hardening
  • English language skills: must have

 

We currently operate computer rooms with Unix/Linux development and test environments in heterogeneous networks including all necessary infrastructures.

 

Planned field of activity (focus areas):

  • Cloud: AWS, Google etc.
  • Virtualization (e.g. VMWare vSphere, Oracle Linux KVM)
  • Ansible / Puppet Enterprise (configuration management) as well as operation of Oracle or SuSe Enterprise Linux (OS operation)

 

Collaboration on HUB-wide projects such as:

  • Modernization/centralization of existing authentication systems
  • OpenLDAP / MIT Kerberos / PAM / SSSD

 

oncall: planned activities for Carmen only 2 times a year
