Information Security Governance Legal Intern

This internship will aim to start in May 2024 and end in September 2024 with a possible extension
RSM has an opportunity for a highly motivated legal intern for the Information Security Governance team who will work directly with various risk and legal teams to support RSM’s client and vendor contracting process. You’ll be a member of a team responsible for ensuring that client and vendor agreements contain the appropriate Information Security terms. You will work directly with client and vendors, reviewing and negotiating contracts, addendums etc. and liaising with other teams such as the Office of General Counsel and Strategic Sourcing. Communication, legal and writing skills, critical thinking, curiosity, and overall professionalism are paramount as you will be representing RSM Information Security Governance to effectively engage with business leadership.
Assist with reviewing, editing, and negotiating information security terms within client and vendor contracts that are distributed via internal workflows and queues. Communicate regularly with the Office of Risk Management (O.R.M./C.Q.R.M.) legal and privacy subject matter experts, as well as technical subject matter experts.
Assist with reviewing the security posture of third parties with a focus on contractual requirements.

Required: Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor in good academic standing with two years completed
Required: Critical thinking
Required: Experience reviewing contracts and negotiating terms
Required: Knowledge of Microsoft windows administration and tools such as SharePoint, Office, and Excel.
Required: Good understanding of information security best Practices
Preferred: Good understanding of current technologies and technical terms
Experience communicating directly with clients and vendors – Required
Excellent written and oral communication skills – Required
Highly collaborative with a desire to learn information security best practices – Required
Ability to work from separate workflows and different teams– Preferred
