Job description  

Varjo is looking for a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to drive the next wave of improvements in our security practices, operating model and culture.  

As the CISO, you drive continuous improvement of security across the company, run our comprehensive security program and own our security governance. In your role, you are responsible for the company-wide regular risk assessments and implementing the remedies in collaboration with the different functions. You take an all-hazards approach and address threats both digital and physical. 

The role is based in Helsinki, Finland, with an opportunity to work in hybrid mode. You will report to Varjo’s Chief Operating Officer.

What you’ll be doing 

• Proactively identify and evaluate security risks in our daily operations, and assess our existing security measures and policies 
• Drive enterprise-wide security improvements jointly with our IT team and other stakeholders, including third party partners 
• Work together with our Product and Engineering teams to improve the security of our products and services 
• Define our incident management process and run our cross-functional incident response team and activities 
• Manage implementation of potential security certifications, e.g., NIST 800:171, and ensure compliance with security-related regulations, e.g., NIS 2 
• Coordinate responses to security related customer enquiries and represent Varjo in selected customer interactions 
• Foster a security-aware culture and implement trainings and communications for our personnel 

Our expectations 

• Passion for security with at least 5 years of experience from a senior security consulting role, security leadership or similar role 
• Experience and understanding of cybersecurity threats and remedies on technical level (e.g., technical security consulting, R&D related to security, white-hat hacking) 
• Experience of security governance development, risk assessments and certification processes 
• Readiness to take a hands-on approach to driving the security program and improvements with individual contributions 
• Ability to work effectively with and collaborate across functions and senior leadership, as well as Varjo’s customers and partners
