508 Compliance SME

Copper River Cyber Solutions is seeking a 508 Compliance Subject Matter Expert to join our team in support of a new contract at the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Responsiveness. This position will be performed remotely with the occasional need for an onsite meeting in the Washington D.C. area.

The 508 Compliance Subject Matter Expert serves as Section 508 coordinator and subject matter expert on all 508 issues; participate in working groups and/or meetings with stakeholders to discuss requirements and/or present 508 strategies and solutions; provide guidance on technical issues involving Section 508 as it relates to accessible documents and electronic media. Working with Project Team Leads and Project Managers to produce high quality products.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

• Tests programs, processes, and systems to measure the accessibility and Section 508 compliance of products and services
• Assists with writing basic test procedures and protocols to assess product accessibility and evaluates the ability of products to meet Section 508 standards and specifications
• Gathers basic test data and evaluates the results of tests to determine if product designs and architecture meets specifications and performance expectations
• May collaborate with other teams to improve or upgrade accessibility features and/or product performance
• Provide technical assistance and remediation guidance to team members
• Document testing methodologies and write accessibility compliance reports
• Recommend potential solutions by evaluating new and emerging assistive technologies that support reasonable accommodations designed to increase accessibility
• Deliver accessibility training and seminars as needed for the project
• Maintains current knowledge of Section 508, its amendments, updates, and industry best practices for IT

Requirements:

• Clearance:
• Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance

• Education:
• Bachelors degree or prior, relevant experience in lieu of a degree
• Understanding of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973

• • 508 Compliance certification

• Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience
• Experience specialized in accessibility and conducting Section 508 compliance audits
• Experience providing high-level architectural expertise to managers and technical staff
• Experience producing quality documentation
• Experience working with Federal government clients

• Preferred Skills:
• Cyber Security knowledge and experience a plus
• Cloud knowledge and experience a plus
• Platform and data migration knowledge and experience a plus
• SharePoint knowledge and experience a plus
• Microsoft 365 knowledge and experience a plus
