Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Principal Cyber Security Engineer - with Mandiant experience to join our cybersecurity team to play a critical role in developing, implementing, and managing strategies to protect systems, networks, and data from advanced cyber threats. Your expertise will be instrumental in identifying and neutralizing potential cyber attackers while enhancing our overall cybersecurity posture.

Location: Rosslyn, VA 

 

In this role, you will: 

  • Act as the principal cybersecurity advisor to executive management. 
  • Ensure security improvement designs are evaluated, validated, and implemented as required.  
  • Perform cyber defense incident triage, to include determining scope, urgency, and potential impact, identifying the specific vulnerability. 
  • Certify that protection and detection capabilities are acquired or developed using the Cybersecurity engineering approach that are consistent with organization-level cybersecurity architecture. 
  • Explore and assess the latest technology trends, disruptions, and security/IT service business models to ensure Business Technology maintains, and improves, organization cyber competitive edge. 
  • Work closely with management to define and promote the strategic direction of the team.  
  • Provide strong leadership and direction to team members.  
  • Provide subject matter expertise across all cybersecurity technologies. 
  • Create and maintains cybersecurity technology roadmap.  
  • Ensure compliance to audit, regulatory and legal requirements.  
  • Make recommendations that enable expeditious remediation. 
  • Build and maintains effective relationships with peers, internal business partners, and external vendors. 
  • Oversee project implementation to ensure successful solution delivery. 
  • Engineer and integrate new Cybersecurity solutions.  
  • Apply service-oriented security architecture principles to meet organization's confidentiality, integrity, and availability requirements.

Qualifications

Required: 

 

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree and 9 years of experience is required (7 years of experience with a Master’s). In lieu of a degree, 4 years of additional experience may be substituted.
  • Possess ONE of the following certifications or be able to obtain before start date:
    • CASP+ CE, CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA-Security, CCNP Security, CEH, CFR, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), Cloud+, CySA+, GCED, GCIA, GCIH, GICSP, SCYBER, or VCA DCV.
  • Mandiant or FireEye experience. 
  • Ability and have a sufficient background to perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Expertise at performing analysis at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Experience and skills to ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • U.S. citizenship and an Interim Secret security clearance to start;
    • The ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance. 

 

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting the Department of State cyber security mission.

Target Salary Range

$112,000 - $179,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
