Network Security Project Engineer

A fabulous opportunity to join a fast paced, cutting-edge Cyber Security business.Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will join a team of talented infrastructure engineers with a focus on project delivery.This is both an internal and occasionally client facing role with a mix of BAU/3rd Line escalations and participation in an on-call rota.This is a wide and diverse role with great opportunity to learn many new technologies and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver Proof of Concepts for new designs (Client and Internal infrastructure) and products as needed.
• Implementation of client and internal deployments.
• Support with technical/pre-sales demonstrations and design.
• Develop and deploy solutions in line with industry security best practises.
• Help develop better ways of working and automation were possible.
• Develop documentation and process for deployments, BAU and engineering standards / best practise.
• Act as a mentor for more junior members of the team.
• Participate in an On-Call rota (typically one week in four but on occasion more often during sickness and leave)

About you

• You should have experience and skills as a Network Security Engineer and/or Infrastructure Engineering, as well as having Technical Specialist knowhow. You should be able to critically assess current technical and security practices (systems, infrastructure and processes), and make recommendations for improvement and innovation, as well as overseeing the implementation your recommendations.
• You have a strong customer focus, seeking out ways to provide a high-quality outcome for your customers and/or internal stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

• We understand that not everyone can meet all criteria. We are looking for dedicated individuals with an enthusiasm to learn more, especially around Cyber Security, the tools in volved and how it impacts infrastructure.
• Strong Network Security (IDS, IPS, Network Taps etc)
• Strong Firewall Administration (Palo Alto, Fortinet Etc)
• Strong Network Administration (IP, Layer2, Spanning-Tree, OSPF, BGP, DNS, VSS, Nexus)
• Cisco / Arista Qualified or Suitable Experience
• Load balancing Technologies (F5 LTM etc)
• IP Security (VPN, IPSec etc)
• DNS/DNSSEC/GSBL/CDN(Cloudlfare etc)
• Virtualisation Technologies (VMware  &  Distributed Switching)
• System Monitoring (Solar Winds, Cacti Etc.)
• Physical Hardware Experience (Deploying rack mount switches, routers, Fiber /Copper cabling and associated optics, etc)
• Linux and Windows Use/Administration
• ITIL Aware

Experience in the following would be advantageous but not required

• Experience across all areas of the Elastic / ELK Stack (Elastic search, Kibana, Log stash), including design, deployment and management
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS/Google Etc.), including design, deployment and management.
• -SIEM experience (Ideally LogRhythm, Splunk, Elastic SIEM, SOAR Technologies such as Cortex or Azure Sentinel)
• Intermediate or better scripting skills (Bash, Perl, PhP, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell)
• Understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Understanding of API’s and API driven platforms.
• An understanding of the MITRE framework.
• Storage systems (VNX, Dell Storageworks, ISCSI, Fiberchannel etc)
• HCI Infrastructure
• Experience of ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials of CAF frameworks.
• Networking experience (TCP/IP, Cisco, Firewalls, Palo Alto, Fortinet etc.)

Flexibility to work from home occasionally (80/20 office/home) (currently 100% working from home due to COVID restrictions).
