We are building the premier cybersecurity news publication that unflinchingly reports on hackers, defenders, and policymakers that lead the conversation in this fast-changing field. We are looking for a cybersecurity reporter who is eager to build a brand, embrace new opportunities, and develop a beat around the politics and policy of cybersecurity and national security.

What you’ll do as the Reporter:

  • Be a leader on the intelligence and cyber policy news beat and cultivate a broad audience of government and private sector leaders
  • Report daily scoops on the latest cybersecurity stories, contributing to weekly newsletters and podcasts, and writing in-depth analysis on broader industry trends. There will be opportunities for longer-term investigations for candidates interested in explanatory writing
  • Build relationships with a wide range of sources, including government officials, cybersecurity executives, and academic researchers

What you’ll bring as the Reporter:

  • Previous experience reporting on cybersecurity-related agencies, such as the NSA, CISA, FBI, and the U.S. Secret Service
  • A familiarity with cybersecurity policy. Having sources in Congress or the White House is a plus
  • Curiosity, perseverance, and resourcefulness
  • Strong drive and ability to jump on breaking news stories and write in-depth analysis on bigger cybersecurity topics
  • Ability to manage many tasks and write multiple stories per week under tight deadlines
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to convey stories in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to build strong sources across a variety of fields
  • Excellent communication and collaborations skills
  • Location flexible - we are open to candidates based anywhere in the U.S. and Europe
