Software Engineer, Cryptography

Galois tackles the hardest problems in computer science, developing technology to guarantee the trustworthiness of systems where failure is unacceptable. While we are primarily an R&D company, our researchers’ innovations often have real-world applications and are launched as “spinout” technologies, products, or even companies. This position will support our latest spinout: ExistX. As a Software Engineer with ExistX, you will design and develop advanced technologies for safety- and security-critical systems, networks, and applications. Engineers work in small team settings and must successfully interact with clients, partners, and other employees in a highly cooperative, collaborative, and intellectually challenging environment.

Key Qualifications

• Education– Minimum of a BS in computer science or mathematics.
• Required Technical Expertise
  • Experience building highly performant, scalable, and reliable software systems for mission-critical applications
  • Experience with a modern programming language such as Java or Python
  • Knowledge of cryptographic algorithms and protocols
  • Ability to work in a small to rapidly prototype and operationalize new features and capabilities
  • Eagerness to learn new tools and techniques emerging from the R&D community
  • Demonstrated capability to take theoretical constructions, turn them into working implementations, and optimize them toward practical use.

Location

This position will be full-time, onsite, and will be located in or around Annapolis, MD

Security and Citizenship Requirement

The employee must have an active TS/SCI security clearance.
