What we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced and knowledgeable System Security Engineer to join the Synctera team! As a System Security Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, implementing and managing the overall system security strategy for our platform and consult with various Fintech’s & Banks on endpoint security best practices. Your focus will be on hardening our platform, networks, leading penetration testing & establishing continuous improving security best practices  

What you'll do

  • Regularly perform security checks and troubleshooting
  • Tracking risks and conducting ongoing security assessments PCI-DSS, SOC2, Pen testing 
  • Identify security threats in a timely manner
  • Assess existing security issues within the organization
  • Set up firewalls and systems to identifying intrusions, configuring these to suit the needs of the organization
  • Implementing a system of automation within the organization to ensure effective and efficient security protocols
  • Investigate breaches and implement solid plans of incident response, learning from past shortcomings to create ever more robust security protocols
  • Stay on top of industry standards and ensure complete compliance
  • Stay on top of developments in the industry, and applying these in a considered manner within the organization
  • Conduct testing and deliver insightful reports based on findings
  • Analyze changing security requirements across the whole lifecycle of a product, and make sure these are met at every stage
  • Oversee any developments within the organization to make sure security is maintained
  • Outline internal security policies for the organization
  • Work with with the platform, fronting and engineering team to champion security best practices 
  • Perform regular audits and provide reports

What you'll bring

Must Have:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Infrastructure Security Engineer, System Security Expert,   or similar role
  • Strong experience within Linux and Unix environments
  • Fluent proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Go (Golang) or Python
  • Proficiency in Terraform
  • Certification, such as CCNA or OSCE or OSCP 
  • Deep Knowledge of networking protocols, such as TCP/IP, HTTP and HTTPS, as well as their underlying implementations
  • Knowledge of potential attack vectors such as XSS, injection, hijacking, social engineering, and so on
  • Knowledge of Content Delivery Networks, Cloud Infrastructure (GCP) & general database infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Agile Development processes
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Team player
  • Good time-management skills
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working in a startup environment
  • Experience with Financial service sector
