We're seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join us, to work in a cross team environment improving and establishing security within our technology stack. Providing technical security subject matter expertise within the Squiz private and public cloud environments including networking, edge services, firewalls, web application firewalls, devops, containerisation and virtualisation, covering review, design and implementation of security measures.

We’re location-flexible! This role is open to all candidates on the East Coast of Australia..

For this role, we ask that you can demonstrate:

  • Expertise across a variety of security technologies like firewalls, networking, Cloudflare, SIEM, XDR, AWS.
  • Experience in Linux based environments (not a Microsoft shop).
  • Excellent and up to date technical skills relating to securing public and private cloud environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Expertise securing environments, and working across functions to design and implement secure solutions.
  • Experience in operational security, incident response with a teaching mentality to share knowledge.
  • Relevant degree or holding certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, SSCP, AWS CSS is an advantage.
  • Expertise with Cloudflare (preferred) or Zscaler or like and Gitlab security is an advantage

What you would do:

  • Understanding complex technical issues and managing them across multiple business functions and teams.
  • Design and implement security solutions across software, hardware and cloud environments.
  • Security automation and orchestration, and securing capabilities within a DevOps philosophy.
  • Maintaining all software, hardware and cloud capabilities with relation to security.
  • Take ownership of security technologies and capabilities, and ensure all technology is implemented against recognised best practices.
  • Maintaining security records as evidence for ISO 27001 and other relevant certifications.
  • Identifying current and emerging technology issues including security trends, vulnerabilities and threats.
  • Threat intelligence.
  • Sourcing and implementing new security solutions to better protect the organisation.
  • Conducting proactive research to analyse security weaknesses and recommend appropriate strategies.
  • Liaising with vendors to implement security solutions.
  • Seen as a security subject matter expert by others.
  • Manage activities to reach specific outcomes.
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability for work outcomes, be comfortable with ambiguity, and will adjust work outcomes as needed.
