A day in the life of a DevSecOps Engineer/Consultant

The DevSecOps Engineer/Consultant is an engineer and ICT expert involved in the continuous integration, delivery and deployment of IT solutions, responsible for ensuring that robust and secure solutions are developed, operated, monitored, audited and maintained. Furthermore, the DevSecOps Engineer/Consultant is responsible for the set-up, configuration and operation of the infrastructure, ensuring secure-by-design deliveries.

Your main duties will be to: 

• Plan, implement and execute DevSecOps pipelines
• Architect and design API Security, Mobile Security, Cloud Security
• Facilitate the continuous delivery of IT assets throughout the software development lifecycle
• Set-up, manage and maintain DevSecOps automation tools
• Promote the usage of DevSecOps methodologies to the project teams
• Document code conventions, release notes, issues encountered and resolutions.

Qualifications

If you have:

• Degree in Computer Science or relevant domain
• Proven working experience with large, enterprise-level multi-user projects
• Experience with DevOps container/orchestration tools, such as, but not limited to: Docker, Ansible, Kubernetes
• Proven working experience in conducting DevSecOps activities within large scale projects
• Experience with continuous delivery and Application Lifecycle Management tools, such as, but not limited to: Jenkins, Bamboo, JIRA, SVN, Git, Nexus
• Demonstrable knowledge or Certification in ISO27000, CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CCSK (Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge), OSCE (Offensive Security Certified Expert), OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional) or equivalent
• Specific expertise in establishing and managing deployment pipeline and release management processes
• Expertise in cloud security architecture and security requirements
• Knowledge in black box and white box testing
• A result-oriented mindset and problem-solving mentality 
• Excellent command of the English Language (written & verbal)

• Knowledge or Certification in selection, planning, delivery, maintenance and overall lifecycle of IT services (e.g. ITIL)
• Ability to work and respond quickly to changing situations and complex project environments
