JOB PURPOSE:

The PR Specialist is responsible for helping to expand brand awareness for ESET in North America – working to promote the company’s cutting-edge research, events, campaigns, and cybersecurity experts. With 1-3 years of experience, you have worked internally and/or with an agency – and you enjoy working with next-gen technology companies to reach a variety of audiences. You have experience developing media lists, and pitches and conducting outreach aimed at technology, national consumer tech, broadcast, and cybersecurity outlets.

This role reports to the Head of North America PR and will work closely with ESET’s global researchers and cybersecurity thought leaders. This role requires someone who enjoys a diverse workload, as you will keep a close eye on the breaking news cycle, write press releases, support the local award calendar, conduct regular reporting, and utilize a range of PR tools in your day-to-day work.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will work with local and global PR teams to expand ESET’s cybersecurity and technology brand awareness in North America.

  • Oversee ESET’s local media list for national, technology, cybersecurity, top-tier consumer, and broadcast outlets.

  • Craft compelling narratives and develop new pitch strategies through competitor analysis, industry research, rapid response, and taking advantage of ESET’s news cycle.

  • Take advantage of industry and ESET-owned events to drive media relationships and secure interviews.

  • Work with ESET spokespeople and the Head of North America PR to deliver commentary to the media in a timely fashion. Support media opportunities with briefing materials and spokesperson prep.

  • Help manage ESET’s technology awards with support from global PR, including writing submissions and overseeing deadlines and approvals.

  • Collaborate with ESET’s social media team to get the word out on top placements.

  • Work with global PR analyst and Head of North America PR to track and report on North American PR activities, supporting regional newsletters and presentations.

  • Help maintain the organization’s corporate image and brand.

 KEY TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A natural self-starter who can work across tight timelines

  • Understands how the media operates and what makes a strong media story; exhibits a keen appetite for securing media stories and creatively inserting ESET into the news cycle

  • A strong writer who can craft content for a variety of opportunities, including the ESET newsroom, awards entries, presentations, and social media

  • Interest in current and developing technology and cybersecurity trends

  • Strong networking and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to stay highly organized with great attention to detail.

  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality and discretion.

  • Willingness to be available for media opportunities across offices/time zones and communications platforms (Teams, cell, and email)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

  • Experience using media monitoring services and PR media database tools

  • Interest in social media and news monitoring to keep your finger on the pulse of rapid response opportunities

  • Flexibility and ability to adjust quickly in a fast-paced environment

LANGUAGE:
  • English

  • Spanish is a bonus

  • Listens actively and ensures he/she understands what is being communicated

  • A friendly, professional demeanor with a positive outlook

PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
  • Performance is evaluated semi-annually against departmental goals and objectives set forth by Global and identified together with management.

  • Performance management tools include 360 reviews, departmental alignment goals, and an individual annual performance review.

JOB FIT:
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (up to 10%)

  • Ability to work or be on-call 24/7 as relates to breaking news that impacts media interviews or breaking coverage

  • Ability to work or be on-call 24/7 as relates to product launches

  • Ability to work or be on-call 24/7 as relates to projects assigned

  • Ability to lift to 35 pounds

  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods

CAREER PATHWAYS:
  • Direct promotion or lateral transfer within Marketing or other departments as training and experience qualifies, following 1 year in the position.

  • Reports to Head of North America PR.

  • Career advancement is dependent on individual performance and not limited by organizational structure.
