The Bank Controller, Accounting Policy and Reporting organization consists of the Bank Controllers, Corporate Accounting Policy and Reporting teams.

  • The Bank Controllers team is responsible for the Legal Entity Controller (LEC) functions for JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A. (Lead Bank), JPMorgan Chase & Co (Parent Co) and JPMorgan Chase Holdings LLC (JPMCH), including on-going capital monitoring and adequacy. The team is also accountable for the Firmwide Legal Entity (LE) strategy and simplification agenda, and for managing the Firmwide LE reorganizations & capital actions (RCA policy), affiliate support documents (ASD policy) and Reg W and Reg K governance.
  • The Accounting policy team establishes global accounting and disclosure policies for the Firm and provides guidance on the accounting and disclosure of complex and judgmental accounting matters.
  • The Reporting team consists of SEC reporting and the Quality Review & Control (QRC) function. The SEC Reporting team is responsible for the compilation, review, and filing of the Firm's consolidated quarterly and annual financial statements and supplemental information for the quarterly Earnings Release with the SEC. The QRC function is responsible for quality reviews of various JPMorgan Chase's external financial reports and presentations, including earnings material and the Annual Report and proxy.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Partnering across all of the firms lines of business (LOBs) and Corporate functions (including beyond accounting and finance) in the preparation of the Firm’s SEC filings
  • Ensuring disclosures comply with U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) and U.S. GAAP requirements, and are written to be easily understood by investors and analysts
  • Reading and critically reviewing quarterly and annual disclosures and partnering with each function and LOB to understand and corroborate disclosure information, ask probing questions and analyze the data to ensure consistency across the reports
  • Liase with SEC legal counsel on disclosure matters
  • Preparing and presenting key accounting/disclosure changes to Senior management, including Firmwide CFO and General Counsel; facilitator of the firm’s Disclosure Committee
  • Faciliating and leading quarterly certification meetings with business partners and Senior management
  • Oversight of filings with the SEC, strategic projects and the technical compliance program, ensuring financial statements are produced in accordance with applicable guidance (e.g. U.S. GAAP, SEC rules) 
  • Managing the review, impact assessment and implementation of relevant SEC rule updates, as well as leadership and participation in peer and industry forums on such topics
  • Supporting the Accounting Policy team with implementation of FASB updates
  • Oversight of the SEC Reporting team’s preparation and maintenance of appropriate level of documentation for the team’s processes and controls 
  • Partnering with and resolving various matters with internal control groups, as well as internal and external auditors, along with responding to time sensitive, ad-hoc requests from key partners such as Investor Relations, Legal, LOBs, and Senior Management

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • 12+ years of experience in the financial services industry, experience to include managing a team 
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA or chartered accountant designation required, and public accounting experience preferred 
  • Strong understanding of SEC rules (e.g. Regulation S-X, S-K) and U.S. GAAP
  • Experience with preparing/reviewing financial statements and performing technical accounting research/implementations
