Job Description

We are looking for a Manager, Security Strategy & Program Management who will be responsible for the implementation security strategies to protect the organization’s assets and data from potential threats. In this role, you will oversee the overall security program and provide guidance and direction to the security team. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive security program maturity. In this leadership position for the Security Strategy & Program Management team, you will be directly responsible for managing a team of engineers, and analysts. This position reports to the Chief Information Security Officer. 

The primary functions of the Security Strategy & Program Management team includes:

This position requires a strong background and understanding of all cybersecurity domains. You will use a business risk-based approach to the decision-making process. Brightspeed is a cloud-first (Azure, GCP, and SaaS) company with a significant data center presence. This model will require you to consider security across a diverse portfolio of assets and networks. 

We are looking for someone passionate about cyber security to manage, build, and operate a security strategy and security program management team from the ground up. You will be able to adapt quickly and manage constant change effectively. In this role, you will not only lead the team, but also be a working member.

The team has to adapt to a constant change in threats. The position will be directly responsible for driving the company’s zero-trust journey, overall security strategy, and security maturity.

As Manager, Security Strategy & Program Management, your duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Manage security budgets and resources
  • Provide project management functions across the entire security organization
  • Drive security maturity program initiatives
  • Develop and maintain security metrics, analytics, and reporting
  • Manage development and automation projects
  • Oversee remediation efforts following audit and risk findings and ensure timely closure of identified issues
  • Build, coach, and lead a diverse and high-performance team to navigate complex compliance issues
  • Create and maintain strategic partnerships with senior leadership across the organization
  • Led a technical cyber security team of managers, engineers, and analysts responsible for the security of Brightspeed assets, users, and networks across the enterprise
  • Develop and foster strong peer-to-peer relationships across all interfacing security teams
  • Partner with teams across Brightspeed to identify and deliver shared outcomes that measurably improve the security posture across the organization
  • Establish and implement professional development paths for all human resources within the organization
  • Define ambitious, measurable goals, objectives, and metrics for that team that show impact and progress over time

Qualifications

WHAT IT TAKES TO CATCH OUR EYE:

  • Bachelor's degree in cyber security, computer science, or a directly related field
  • 5+ years of experience in cyber security
  • 5+ years of experience in security program management
  • Broad knowledge and experience in all eight cyber security domains
  • Experience creating new organizations and processes is a plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing time-sensitive priorities
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a team of security professionals
  • Experience managing remediation efforts following audit and risk findings
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment is a plus
  • Experience with security frameworks such as NIST, CIS Controls, and ISO 27001
  • In-depth knowledge of security technologies and trends
  • Strong understanding of applicable regulations and standards such as PCI DSS, SOX, and ISO

BONUS POINTS FOR:

  • Certified Information Security Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • PMI Certification is highly desirable
