Job Description

The Systems Security Engineer is part of the Cyber Threat Management team in the Experian GSO. This role will serve as an engineer responsible for the innovation, development, and overall maintenance of VM, FIM, and Configuration Compliance systems. Focus will be directed towards automation of relevant services to integrate CMDB, SIEM, IAM, N/SOC, as well as general REST API operations. This position will be responsible for regularly scheduled management tasks, automation, development, break/fix, and consulting with other business units to maintain highly functional and efficient services. An ideal candidate will have security experience specifically in vulnerability management, secure system configurations, and file integrity monitoring as well as intermediate Windows and Linux operating systems experience with the ability to apply knowledge to gain efficiencies through automation and process improvements. The Systems Security Engineer will work closely with internal teams in the global security organization and other business units, as well as interfacing with vendors. 

What you´ll do:

  • Advanced understanding of vulnerabilities and the vulnerability process from identification and scoring to remediation. 
  • Ability to dissect operational processes converting them to detailed requirements to build an automated workflow.  
  • Ability to develop leveraging Python, Ruby, or Shell(Powershell or Bash) leveraging Restful integrations to the different systems at Experian. 
  • Investigate vulnerabilities to resolution where false positive/negative circumstances are present 
  • Manage platform(s) relevant to VM, FIM, and Configuration including scan engines and their underlying OS, agents, integrations relating to authentication, discovery, and reporting 
  • Remediate vulnerabilities in the CTM environment 
  • Coordinating resolution between global security and SME teams and vendors to solve complex issues.
  • Participate in root cause analysis on security incidents and provide recommendations for containment and remediation 
  • Act as the liaison to business units to fulfill audit, regulatory compliance and/or corporate security policy requirements. 
  • Develop documentation for processes, automation, and workflow in common documentation platform markup language

Qualifications

What your background looks like:

  • 3+ years of information security, preferably engineering or development 
  • 3+ years administrating Windows and Linux systems 
  • 2+ years on teams utilizing Agile methodologies 
  • 2+ years performing root cause analysis on technical problems 
  • 2+ years Python, Ruby, or Shell development skills 
  • 2+ years working with cloud computing 
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher degree in Computer Science, Information Security, similar discipline or related work experience preferred 
  • Experience with a wide range of security products 
  • Good understanding of Windows as well as RPM and .deb based Linux distributions(security and systems administration) 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with anyone, from end users to senior leadership- facilitating technical and non-technical conversations. 
  • Strong incident handling/incident response/security analytics skills 
  • Understanding of networking concepts such as VLAN, subnets, common protocols, and routing basics  
  • Solid comprehension of various security controls, capabilities and use in a corporate environment 
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities 
  • Experience interacting with REST API’s to collect and provide data 
  • Strong documentation and communication skills 
  • Demonstrated history of innovation and/or creativity 
  • Ability to drive process improvements and identify gaps 
  • Knowledge of programming/scripting fundamentals 
  • Related Certifications (CISSP, CCSK, MCSE, RHCSA) are beneficial
