HII, Mission Technologies a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries is currently seeking an experienced Information Assurance Engineer to join our team to work with the group that is responsible for implementing, maintaining, monitoring, and managing secure solutions. The security engineer delivers these solutions in accordance with the organization’s architectural designs, best practices, and regulatory or compliance requirements. 

Responsibilities: I want to and can do that!

•    Provide for mission and business continuity by maintaining network devices, servers, workstations, and other system components, applying updates and patches, and troubleshooting and fixing issues that arise. 
•    Ensure regulatory compliance and validate system security requirements by keeping systems up to date and in accordance with required security technical implementation guides (STIGs) as well as providing audit and administrative oversight of the system. 
•    Implement insider threat detection and mitigation through routine review of system and network device audit and activity logs. 
•    Assess and mitigate system security threats throughout the program life cycle through periodic vulnerability scanning and creating plans of action and milestones (POAMs) to remediate any detected vulnerabilities. 
•    Design, establish, and implement the system architecture, including system security elements, such as firewalls and other network monitoring components. 
•    Support the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and/or Manager (ISSM) in maintaining the certification and accreditation of the system. 
•    Work with government representatives and analysts in obtaining continued authority to operate (ATO). 
•    Support secure systems operation and maintenance by maintaining operating system and software patches and updates, hardware upgrades, fixes, and replaces, and general system troubleshooting.
•    Maintain system documentation, including network diagrams and hardware and software inventories.  
•    Provide in-depth threat analysis involving detection, assessment, mitigation, and scanning of vulnerabilities.
•    Enable the automation of tasks through programming and writing scripts that allow automated installation of patches and security updates.
 

What you must have:

•    5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years’ experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
•    Knowledge of email security gateway, cloud and virtual technologies
•    Knowledge of mapping business requirements to technology and ability to identify security gaps at the architecture level.
•    Knowledge of common security vulnerabilities
•    Knowledge of risk assessment tools, technologies and methods
•    Ability to communicate network security issues to peers and management
•    Experience with network security and networking technologies and with system, security, and network monitoring tools
•    Must have active TS/SCI w/poly security clearance
 

Preferred Requirements

•    Experience outside of Cybersecurity in another IT function such as system or database administration

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
