We are seeking passionate people to grow the Cyber Security team within WTW and provide an excellent service and trusted expertise to all parts of our business. We have an exciting opening for a skilled and experienced L1 Insider Threat Analyst. 

As part of the Cyber Defence department, this role will be accountable for the L1 Insider Threat analyst team. Reporting to the Global Head of Insider Threat, this role is suited to someone who has experience managing an Insider Threat or Data Loss Prevention triage team. The L1 team serves as the first line of defence against insider threats, promptly identifying and responding to potential risks to the organisation.

The Role:

As the L1 Insider Threat Manager, the primary responsibilities will be:

  • Accountable for the efficient, effective and consistent triage and escalation of Insider Threat and DLP alerts across the various egress channels in both on premise and cloud environments.
  • Supervise a team of L1 Insider Threat Analysts including assigning tasks, monitoring progress as well as conducting performance reviews and regular 1-2-1s.
  • Maintain the quality and accuracy of alert triage activities by conducting Quality Assurance activities.
  • Oversee the escalation process for alerts that require further investigation or response beyond the capabilities of the L1 team.
  • Produce and present triage reporting to other Cyber Defence stakeholders.
  • Interface with colleagues in the strategic design process to translate security and business requirements to improve the efficiency of daily tasks, monitoring, and processes with innovative ideas.
  • Ensure that operational documentation is developed, improved, and updated regularly in accordance with company standards.  
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in the team to improve processes.
  • Coach, mentor and train the L1 Insider Threat Analysts to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively triage alerts.
  • Work closely with the Insider Threat Engineering team on the fine tuning of rules across the detection tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the L1 function.
  • Help drive projects and initiatives that enhance data protection policies and standards.

Secondary responsibilities:

  • Other relevant tasks as designated by the Global Head of Insider Threat.

The Requirements:

What you will need:

  • It is essential that you have experience within a DLP and/or Insider Threat managerial or supervisory role in a global enterprise organisation. 
  • Understanding the motivations and behaviours of insider threats.
  • Relevant Microsoft Qualifications for Purview DLP, Defender and Insider Risk Management (IRM).
  • An excellent operational knowledge of Purview DLP, Defender and IRM.
  • Understanding of data protection laws, regulations, and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA).
  • Excellent analytical and triage skills to identify complex security issues and respond at the same level with a technical understanding of when to escalate impacting security events.
  • Ability to identify trends and patterns in data usage behaviour.
  • Excellent oral communication and writing skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and capable of independent work while operating in a geographically and culturally diverse peer group.

Beneficial:

  • Industry certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP).
  • Familiarity with KQL may also be beneficial for automating tasks and conducting analysis.
  • Prior experience in cyber security roles in areas such as incident response, threat detection or security operations.
  • Understanding of risk scoring.
