About the Team
Swiss Re is a matrix organisation. The Behavioural Research Unit (BRU) sits within the Global Life and Health (L&H) Underwriting, Claims and R&D team in L&H Reinsurance – this is where innovation takes place and the decisions on which L&H risks to (re)insure are made. We work on a broad range of topics such as behavioural science, the predictors of long life, and recent advancements in medicines & technology. 


We are looking for a behavioural research consultant (AVP) to join the BRU. Here, we apply cutting edge research from behavioural science to understand the true drivers of human behaviour. By doing this, we achieve business impact and play a very strategic role for Swiss Re. We are a close-knit, international, fun team cultivating a fascinating topic within a well-established, global company.

 

About the Role
We are looking for a curious and motivated individual to join us strengthen our collaboration with the regional market units, identifying their and their clients' (primary insurers) painpoints and executing solutions to address them. This is a unique opportunity to craft behavioural science applications in the insurance industry. 


The focus of the role would be on the UK&I and EMEA markets.


The location is London, with presence in the office on most days and flexibility provided through Swiss Re's award-winning Own-The-Way-You-Work programme.


This is a 2-year contract.


Your responsibilities include:
•    Grow and deliver the pipeline of consultancy services for our market units, including: organizing listening exercises with these business stakeholders, reading strategy papers and business documents to assess business challenges; diagnosing behavioural challenges and solving for them; prioritising projects; managing stakeholders.
•    Consultancy services: running training sessions for our internal staff; producing literature reviews and summarising these for a non-expert internal and potentially external audience; working with other behavioural scientists in other business units who may scale and execute on some of your ideas.
•    Engage with internal stakeholders to ensure their buy-in and business relevance of our projects to achieve the goal to generate commercial impact.
•    Partner with the internal behavioural science community.


About You
Technical requirements:
•    Relevant training: a post-graduate qualification such as a degree in Behavioural Science, Economics, Psychology; or professional training; or extensive applied experience involving behavioural research.

•    Knowledge and experience of applications of behavioural research to sales, negotiations and communications would be highly desirable.

•    3 years of professional experience in consulting or working in the insurance industry.
•    Ideally you have experience in driving projects from ideation to execution.
•    Excellent ability to communicate in English to a variety of stakeholders.
•    Excellent presentation skills when transposing your ideas into slide decks, videos, articles, or other written formats of communication.
•    German and French highly desirable.


Soft skills:
•    You are a fast learner and curious about anything to do with human behaviour and the insurance industry.
•    You have demonstrated you are an effective consultant, able to partner with and manage stakeholders skilfully, securing their buy-in and producing high quality outputs.
•    You are a strategic thinker and can make sense of a complex corporate matrix environment in a short amount of time and are able to deliver value on what can generate the most impact.
•    You are a sound project manager with experience coordinating cross-functional teams.
