Due to multiple promotions, we are looking for two Junior SOC Analyst on apart time / casual basis to join our cyber security practice in either Auckland or Wellington. Our security practice provides specialist guidance, services, and education in cyber, information and physical security both in NZ and Australia.

These two roles consist of 2-3 shifts per week up to 8 hours per shift. You will likely be covering the afternoon shift into the evening 2-3 days a week either Monday Sunday. These roles ideally suit students or people who can only commit to a few shifts due to their lifestyle. We can be flexible and work around your situation. The roles are permanent roles and paid on an hourly basis with benefits associated.

Reporting into a Team Leader, the role an entry level cyber security role. Come and be part of a larger team which share a common purpose. In this role you will be responsible for monitoring our customer environment for security events and providing initial triage of these events.

We are looking for someone who has a passion and interest in cyber security! A junior SOC Analyst will have the opportunity to shadow and be mentored by an experienced analyst and to gain industry recognised certifications

To be successful in this role we are looking for:

  • A bachelors degree or diploma in Cyber Security/ Information Security with bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Ideally 12 months or plus working into a entry level IT related role ie/ service desk.
  • Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and fundamental cybersecurity concepts, including threat vectors, attack surfaces, and basic defensive measures would be nice to have.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) and basic administration tasks
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic technical issues related to security tools and systems.
  • Awareness of common threat actors, their tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
  • Experience working in a team environment and collaborating with other professionals.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to document findings clearly and concisely.
