The purpose of the role

In the Security Specialists team, we are looking for an experienced and credible Technical specialist leader. Someone with a drive for developing and winning strategic opportunities that deliver end-to-end security thought leadership, driving significant customer value, and enabling transformational customer outcomes. 

 

Technical Specialist works very closely with Microsoft Engineering, Global Black Belt Teams & our Customers and Partners. Their role is provide thought leadership, and help our customers build their protect, detect and response strategies for Cyber Secuirty.  As a Senior subject matter expert you will build secure digital transformation strategies with customers, collaborating with different groups inside the Customer environment to successfully enable them to be more secure.  You will lead consultative customer conversations and collaborate on the planning, orchestration, and execution of end-to-end Security opportunities with internal stakeholders and partners.

You will join a great team of like-minded individuals who like to get the job done but enjoy having fun along the way. You will work within a virtual team across Microsoft to educate your customers at a technical level, demonstrate and prove our solutions, and win the technical decision in your accounts.   Being part of this team will allow you to maintain and develop your deep technical expertise across Microsoft and non-Microsoft cloud-based security solutions, architectures, programs, and technologies.  

 

Key Responsibilities​ 

  • Customer Engagements: As a Senior subject Matter expert leads end-to-end Microsoft Security and adjacent technologies conversations with Customers. 
  • Uses knowledge of customer context, solution or portfolio expertise, technical and industry knowledge to build credibility with customers as a trusted advisor for Microsoft Security. 
  • Scale Through Partners: Engages extensively via Microsoft partners to support them in key scenarios and supports partner technical capacity.​ 
  • Build Strategy: Contributes to Microsoft Security strategy development, Showcases Microsoft Security Platform capabilities to Senior stakeholders. 
  • Solution Design & Proof: Demonstrates and oversees demonstrations, presents, and applies architecture patterns, proves capabilities and integration into customer environment, and drives cross-workload support for Microsoft solutions for security. 
  • Coaches team in addressing customer digital transformation and leveraging insights to align new or changing technology to customer security needs.​ 
  • Education: Builds their own readiness plan and grows extended detection and response (XDR), zero trust and cloud security space domain knowledge and practices expertise. Acts as a mentor for Microsoft Security, its integration with other Microsoft products & services, and Microsoft Security solutions generally; and increases internal virtual teams' understanding of extended detection and response (XDR), zero trust and cloud security space solutions and new opportunities.

Qualifications

There will be many opportunities for you to learn and grow into this role and Microsoft. However, to be able to best deliver on the purpose of this role, these are the core skills and experiences you should have on day one:  

Required Qualifications: 

  • 4+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 4+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 3+ years of technical pre-sales or technical consulting experience OR equivalent experience. 

Additional or Preferred Qualifications 

  • Certification in any one of the following: CEH, LPT, CISSP, CCSP, or CCIA 
  • Certification in (or started) Microsoft 365 Security Administration or Azure Security Engineer Associate.

  • Highly driven passionate person who consistently exceeds goals and expectations.
