Job Description

As a specialist, you will work within our Technology Services team helping to deliver Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAV), next generation Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and Smart Cities related services and projects to clients across the UK and internationally. The team provides services from strategic advice to highly technical research, design and delivery related engineering and consultancy services. Our clients are primarily based in the UK & Ireland with many opportunities to collaborate with other parts of our AECOM European and International business lines and regions.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide consultancy and design services in relation to computer networks and security across a wide range of clients and technologies. Typical projects are mainly in the area of future transport systems (road and rail) and smart cities.
• Capture and analyse requirements, create solution designs and develop technical specifications and reports.
• Provide support for systems installation and commissioning and define, document and put into effect system standards.
• Identify and manage technical issues for clients; provide expert-level review and recommendation in respect of issue resolution.
• Work closely with AECOM colleagues, project partners and stakeholders to support the development and delivery of assigned projects.
• Keep up to date with network and security technologies; renew/upgrade required certifications.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements 

• Work experience in a similar role in transport, smart city or ICT sector.
• Experience or postgraduate degree in Computer Networks/Cyber Security or in an associated field with network and security.
• Demonstrable ability to learn new technologies quickly and use that knowledge into the development and delivery of projects and bids.
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Telecommunications/Computer/Information Systems Engineering or in an associated field which is linked with working within the transport or ICT sector.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Professional certification in information management systems / cyber security / cloud services.   
• Expert-level knowledge of networking components such as routers, modems, adaptors, switches, firewalls and servers, as well as related protocols and standards.
• Strong network security knowledge and skills. 
• In-depth understanding of wired and wireless networks and technologies, including LAN, WAN, FTTx, IoT, WiFi, 4G/5G and virtual networks.
• Demonstrable work experience in network design, development and delivery for ITS, CAV or smart city solutions.
• Ability and instinct for developing novel ideas in close engagement with clients/partners or technology providers.
• Experience of technology research and writing technical reports and papers.
